G Jaevin Cumberland (6-2 165 Fr). 5.1 min. .400 FG; .769 FT; 1.3 pts

Felder’s stat line reminds me of Dave Twardzik…top-5 scorer and leading assist man in Div 1. He’s adept at hitting 3’s, blitzing downcourt, can dunk and has incredible court vision. Oakland is the leading scoring team in Div 1. Team likes to force TOs and score quickly (20-5 POT last night, 10 steals, forced 17 ETSU TOs). Ball control and extra possessions to force Oakland into playing long possessions in half-court defense are key for ODU. Player to watch (besides Felder)…Hooper; all his FG attempts are 3s (249-249!) and he’s good.

What do you all think?
I think that the starting time is too late, and am debating with myself whether to stay up to watch it.
ODU - 78 Oakland - 69
I don't see anybody with monster height on their team.

I watched their game last night about midway through the second half when they were pulling away and I was nodding off. They have one big who asserted himself on occasion and was effective at backing his man down and hitting a short jump hook. But the vast majority of their offense seemed to come from 3s and fast breaks.

Fast breaks only happen if we aren't making shots and turning the ball over. Can't fall into their tempo which I'm afraid we may do at times. I hope they have the coldest 3 point shooting night of their season. If we can control the 3 point line defensively and force them to have to take different shots, if they fall so be it but we can't let them hit 3s like that. Because we get down double digits Even with our defense we don't score very quickly.

What do you all think?

If they were as good as their write-up suggest they probably wouldn"t be here. With that said they do push the pace and Felder will test the bigs inside. If we can keep the pace in our favor we should win.
They are pretty much equivalent to us. They have 1 top 100 win over Washington. They have some close closses to top 100 teams, but overall they are probably 80-100 best team which is where I think we are.
It's Oakland's No. 1 scoring offense in D-1 against ODU's No. 7 scoring defense in D-1, and the No. 3 scorer in D-1 (Oakland's Felder) against the No. 14 scorer in D-1 (our very own Trey Freeman).

Oakland is a 1.5 point favorite, and I think they have set the over/under a little low at 145. If I were betting, I would take ODU and the over.

This should be a fun game. GO MONARCHS!
I'm wondering who they are similar to in C-USA? Marshall, Charlotte and Rice?
Hopefully they're not similar to Middle Tennessee...

Probably closest to Marshall in that they like to score a ton. Don't think they resemble middle Tennessee at all.
Vegasinsider has Oakland favored at -1.5.
Have to limit turnovers and make them play defense for 20+ secs each possession. We have to control tempo and limit Kay Fielder. We are not going to stop him but we have to contain him. Bacote offensively and Baker defensively will be key.
And Stith needs to stay in the game to clean up the glass.
Betcha Baker gets the bulk of time defending Fielder.
