a "who's going to be our next coach thread" about half-way through last season when the writing was on the wall. I predicted Wes Flanigan back then, and he did end up on our staff. Really don't want to have to start that thread this year and won't until the deal is done.
I already created Wally Hall's list

TJ Cleveland
Darrel Walker
Joe Kleine

That's a good one. I see that TJ moved up the list. Everyone on Hogville wants him fired since they know Anderson will never be and believe hiring a realy solid assistant would help him. I have a hard time believing, even Wally, will try to push the next 2 on the list again.

My ASU friend believes we should just follow your football model- a new coach every year. I doubt we can replicate that as successfully as you have.

That wasn't really a "model" It's just sort of something that happened as a byproduct of winning. Had any of those teams had a down year, the coach likely would have stayed.

Even then, we spent a lot of time taking steps to create large monetary buyouts to ensure we were duly compensated if a coach left, while also preventing anything but a P5 school from going after them.
Fisher is coming home imo

Phil Jackson saw to it that he was available.
I doubt it's Fisher.

I love Derek, but I don't believe he's the right choice for this job. We need a young guy who's proved himself at some level as a college head coach. Who has been out there recruiting. Maybe even a great Juco coach. I still have memories of Sidney dancing in this old head!
Can't afford that kind of mistake again.04-cheers
Sentimental or politically convenient decisions don't seem to be Chasse's M.O. so DF is not a sure bet.
He'll only hire Derek, assuming that Derek would even be interested, if he feels he is the right guy for the program. I believe that if Derek would be willing to stay in Little Rock for the long term, and not take another pro job, he might be the guy for the job. But recall Sidney only stayed for one year, and granted it was bad, who knows what might have happened if he had stayed for a long time. He could have still been a big bust, or he might have developed the program into a winning one. We'll never know. Remember that fans wanted Coach K fired early on, and look what happened there. It's a crap shoot. You just never know.

Annette Fisher told me Derek is moving back to California to be near his children. Could he change his mind to work in his home town? Maybe, but I wouldn't bet on it.
Family should come first, when possible.
