End of an era, that was a good man with one flaw I hope his legacy stays intact.
Good for him if he got what he wanted from Tech. I don't root for VT at all but won't root against Brooks. I appreciate what he's done for JMU.
Brooks was always good to me, brooks was very aware of fan base, sad to see him go.

Guy could have been here forever but DONT BLAME HIM FOR LEAVING!
C'mon Barkers....quit being so cryptic. It's like the anti-barkers03-confused
We're replacing our head coaches of all four of our largest programs in less than a year. Wow Jeff is earning his paycheck.

I am by no means a conspiracy theorist but it feels to me like JMU is slowly de-emphasizing sports. My guess is both hoops hires will make less than their predecessors. I suspect they might have liked to do it after the money for the new convo was raised but it didn't work out that way.

I can't lie old dog, I owe that man my respect to not air his business. He has truly treated JMU with great love and want for success.
I don't have to approve of his everything to respect his love for the school and players
I'm on the parents council. We watched a 4 minute student recruiting video. No picture or video clip of any sport or sports facility. The people at my table all noticed.

Brooks has to do what he has to do, but Virginia Tech?

Then why even say anything lol smh
Brooks will be missed. He was a great coach and a great representative of JMU. HOPEFULLY, JMU will be able to hire someone who can maintain the course of our women's program. We really are at an interesting cross road for the whole athletic program. Coaches leaving is part of the business. How JMU leadership responds will speak volumes about their mindset moving forward. 05-deadhorse

So the coaches and student-athletes who you have aired their private affairs in the past, and justified doing so, don't have your respect? This kind of goes to the point that private matters should sometimes remain private...

Odd to me that HH&C has not said much lately. I would like to hear his take on this idea of "de-emphasizing." Unfortunately , there may be something to it long term. But idk. No COA and CAA forever sucks
Have to promote Coach O. Any outside hire and we will be on a steady decline.
If true - this hurts my interest a bit in JMU sports.

Understand if Kenny takes a job for more money. Don't understand how JMU could not of offered him any sort of increase. Some sort of increase could of prevented him from even looking at Tech.

It get's old when you have to threaten to leave to get a deserved increase.

No 1A
Delayed Arena
No Kenny

Hopefully I don't add the basketball hire to this list in the next couple weeks.

As someone said above - maybe JMU does not value athletics as much as other universities. Sadly, probably a big understatement.
The Roanoke Times reporter who was one of the first to report the initial interview also says he's leaving.

Kenny Brooks is leaving #JMU to become #Hokies women's hoops coach
Announced by JMU as well, at the same time. Looks like both schools agreed on the 8 AM release.
