Did anyone see the NBC News coverage on Obama's Cuba visit?
The fawning was almost a parody of itself.
It is reminiscent of the fawning by the Times and BBC over another Western leader's credulous supplications to foreign dictators a couple of generations ago. Not that the Castro regime poses any tangible threat, but the sycophancy of tonight's report rivals the treacle that the Times under notoriously deluded editor Geoffrey Dawson oozed out back then.
The good news is that in this case the stakes are much much much lower; the bad news is that the ability of news organizations to deceive themselves appears to be timeless.
