Great efforts by UALR and EmptySue in the tourney, games that make the first week great.
Tonight Northern Iowa plays Texas, and I will be rooting for them as if I went to school in Cedar Falls, IA.
Took my then 5-year old to the Bracketbuster game there. Treated very well (gave us a tour of the athletic complex and UNI dome) and made friends with the father of Jake Koch. The Koch family has sent all three of their sons, Jake, Adam, and Bennett, to UNI on BB schollys to play for Coach Jacobson, and all have had a taste of the NCAA tournament. Great family, and Brian never hesitates to text me when ODU has a big game to wish us luck.
We reciprocated with a Fellini's dinner for the Kochs and Sonnens when UNI opened at ODU a few years back, and the team ate their pregame meal there on our recommendation.
I have always respected the MVC, and this UNI team in particular, and would love to see Shaka given an early exit by a team and a family with which I feel a connection. Go UNI Panthers!!!
I was really disappointed in the ODU players when they had no idea where Iowa was on a map. Isn't this college?
F the PAC12!!!! They're a mid-major conference. How many of their undeserving teams got in??? And how many were vanquished in the 1st round?

I'll be pulling for UNI, but I could also see Shaka making a deep run.

Maybe our 2.9sec finish should have launched from midcourt too?
UNI has been magical in the NCAA's. Remember their win vs Kansas? If VCU advances, I hope they get steamrolled by the Panthers in the Sweet 16.

Do a survey. Ask anyone you see where any of the fly over states are.
The people I hang with that are from the NE couldn't tell me where my home state (MN) is.
Unless it's, NY, CA, TX, or FL you'll find a lot of people have no clue where the states are, never mind what they look like.
But but but, you HAVE to take a timeout in that situation?!?!?! (Sarcasm)
UNI, Wichita State, Butler and Gonzaga seem to make their mark on just about every tournament even in their average years. None of them had a great regular season this year relative to their better years.

Wichita State is #9 according to Kenpom but received an 11 seed. They are actually favored today over Miami who is rather uninspiring.
