Congrats to MTSU, what a game!

I'm thinking this is the year a 10+ seed could win the tourney.
MSU's App. St.. Went in an over confident 16.5 point favorite and got smacked in the mouth. Our Bahama Bowl buddies certainly outplayed and out hustled Sparty. Don't hold your breath that a +10 seed will win it all. Sounds too much like an excuse for a horrible MSU loss.
MTSU controlled the game from beginning to end. The win was not a lark. It demonstrated solid play, focus, determination, and skill.

MTSU has the largest enrollment in the state of Tennessee. When we beat them in football, that was a bigger achievement than the Bronco fans realize.

From SB Nation:

Heading into Friday afternoon, the major topic of discussion surrounding the Michigan State Spartans was their status as a No. 2 seed who also happened to be one of the two top favorites to win the 2016 national championship.

Now, the 2015-16 Spartans will forever be remembered for something far less envious: Being on the receiving end of the biggest upset in the history of the NCAA Tournament. It's a statement that seems hyperbolic until you dig into the minutiae of just how improbable Middle Tennessee State's 90-81 triumph was.

This was a Spartan team that was the consensus No. 1 team in the country before potential national Player of the Year Denzel Valentine was sidelined with a knee injury in December, a three-week hiatus which likely cost Sparty a No. 1 seed in the Big Dance. Still, the overwhelming opinion was that even if its resume didn't reflect it, Tom Izzo's team was playing as well, if not better, than any other team in America heading into the tournament.

The other part of this equation, of course, is Middle Tennessee State, a team which went 13-5 in Conference USA and lost non-conference tilts to the likes of Georgia State, Murray State and South Dakota State. According to Ken Pomeroy's ratings, the Blue Raiders entered Friday with the 198th-most efficient offense in Division-I. The 72.7 points per game they were averaging as a team ranked 189th in the country.

Good day to be a Bronco!

Glad to see a so-called "Mid-Major" humble the Spartans. MSU fans have zero respect for anything not P5
I didn't enter any brackets this year. But if I did, would've pegged Gonzaga and N Iowa as upsets. They are tough outs year after year.

I might've picked a Butler over UVA upset too, so would've lost that one.

Speaking of Northern Iowa, they'd look good in the MAC if we needed to expand. Their football and basketball are consistently impressive.

Northern Iowa would never leave a strong basketball league like Missouri Valley for bottom-feeding MAC.

Nor would they put more money into football to bring it up to D-IA or FBS or whatever it's called these days.
Gonzaga was way under seeded. They are my pick to get to the Final 4 out of that region.
Refs call two ticky tack calls against SFA in the final minute, Notre Dame wins the nail biter.

Shocking, I know. 07-coffee3
The call against SFA big man on the rebound was the worst. Phantom call.

SFA also had several missed opportunities in the final 90 seconds that could've put it away though.

Yes, referees should just "swallow their whistles" in the last minute or two.

Unless it's a call FOR the team you want to win.

Yeah, that was a bad one. The second one, alright.

SFA did do their part in blowing it, though, as you say.
MTSU spent all their good shots on Friday.
Saw N Iowa was up by like a dozen with a minute to go on my phone, and look again and it's in OT? Must've been some serious choking going on.

...or a historic comeback by A&M. Depends on your perspective.

UNI couldn't hardly get ball in-bounds much less beat the Aggie press, but their usual in-bounder was on bench with injury.
My only regret is that I turned the game off with about a minute to go. I would've liked to have seen such an historic comeback.
It was a serious choke job by Northern Iowa. Never seen a implosion quite like that before.
I watched both OT periods... Wtf kinda offense was UNI running? All they did was PG bring it up the court, continue to dribble out the shot clock, and then jack up a three or finally pass the ball off to someone else who would take an off balanced shot. If they would have ran some offensive sets they probably would have won the game on the foul line:

Too bad.

It is always good to see a P5 team lose to a so-called, "Mid-Major."

Helps WMU and the MAC when "mid-majors" beat P5 programs.

Hate the P5 bastards and cheer against them! 05-mafia
Wow, talk about P---- Envy.

(That's PFive Envy. Or is it?)
