Lyke is sending Murphy a message.

Yes, that is what I'm hearing. Does sound like problems in paradise.

It did seem that Murphy's interview with Chad during the season is telling. He was very frustrated.

I don't think coach is getting the support that he wants from the department.

And this is what I'm feeling too. I don't think she moved heaven and earth to help him including trying to get a post season bid.
BTW, I reminded of the posts when the VB coach lost her job after many, many years.

I also heard some vibes from someone who lives in 48197. This doesn't have anything to do with men's basketball.

I'm not sure things are happy at the Convo.

The sad thing is that with the exception of football I consider our athletic programs to be in very good shape.

I'm also reminded of how George Mason lost their ace coach, Larranga: problems with his AD. They then hired Paul Hewitt and that turned out to be a disaster.
Lyke makes women's lib look like a misfire.

Mourning?
I noticed that LSU, Northwestern, and Kent St. all declined postseason tournament invitations. Interesting.

Boise St., Stanford, Ole Miss, and Marquette all also turned down postseason bids.

Vegas 16 will catch on. Teams stay in Vegas for entire tourney. CIT/CBI are travel intensive and very expensive to host. A D-1 team can camp in Vegas for less money than hosting a CIT/CBI game.

Source WMU board.

Agree. I really would have loved a bid to the Vegas tourney.

I was shocked it had so much problems in year 1.

I read that Kent did so because of injuries.
Dear Friends,
Is the Las Vegas tournament pay to play? If it is, then that could very well be the reason Eastern didn't go, just like the CBI or CIT, if we were invited. Personally, as I have said before, there are too many of these tournaments, that outside of the schools participating, no one cares about.

Murphy's fault for trying to leave after a successful year 1.07-coffee3
this all raises the concern over the years that in murphys view is always been about what is best for rob Murphy vs what is good for the school and the program just based on comments one gets the impression is more about him than emu
Agreed - Rob Murphy would not have been welcomed back to coach at most schools. Rob Murphy will never be a head D1 coach after he leaves EMU. He doesn't pull the right levers during games to be better than average based on 5 year data set. Next year we will all be beaming at the talent he's collected just like we did during 2014-15 season. This season, most of us predicted we would have between 8-10 wins and we were right except for Steve who predicted we would win the national championship (just Kidding).

For sure James Thompson is a game changer just like Raven Lee. So it will be interesting to see what Lyke does if we win perhaps 11 or 12 conference games.

I think Coach Murphy is a good guy, and an average coach. Next year coach Murphy has another shot to implement changes to his strategy. If he deploys the same strategy next year, don't be surprised for us to achieve the same results as the past 5 years. Looking at all of the contributing factors to win, surely talent is probably the most significant determinant to achieve success. I agree with Steve, EMU will look good on paper, but can Murphy get EMU to be an overachiever vs an underachiever.

Indeed, I was among those who had 8 - 10 wins.

I predicted 10 wins.

Only God knows how the BSU game should have ended.
Luckey, this team is built for TWO more seasons.

We have at least a half dozen players on the roster with good skills who will be around two more years...

Just because he was contacted about A NBA job and almost took it?

To me that is one bit of datum and not a chapter or a book.

He was out the door and had to be called back! He did take it but because of his EMU contract couldn't, he even asked if the pro team would buy out his emu contract. Always looking out for the coach and individual players and not the team or EMU.07-coffee3

perhaps heather and the regents don't view Murphy as a team player
Heather wasn't even here.

I think you guys are looking for a brother in law, perfect in all respects.

I was glad Murphy stayed. I remember e-mailing Hoopster every 20 minutes.

All I can say, guys, is that your ways are not my ways.

We are 180 degrees different.
