It could help with recruiting, even though this season's is mostly done. It could help Beard get a raise, which might keep him here. It will get Beard publicity, which might take him away. It makes our underclassmen battle tested and hungry because they have been there. Extra money for the program? What else?

Would OkSt hire a coach with one year of DI experience? Maybe not, but I wouldn't rule it out. TCU? Probably would, considering their long time struggles in basketball. They have a brand new arena. Coach Beard has a ton of Texas connections. Could Coach Beard win at TCU in the Big 12 Conference? I think he could win anywhere. If he believes he could win at TCU, it would be hard to turn down.

The fan base at OkST is delusional, like most fan bases, and probably believe they can hire a "name" coach since they have the money to do so. TCU probably wants to make a "splash" as well with Larry Brown across town. Still, neither will end up with a coach better than Coach Beard.
If we win this first game, the whole basketball world will hear the splash. And we will be a bigger talk topic even than Ga State, because they had money conference talent on their roster and it sort of was expected.

No one, not the most delusional fan on this board, or basketball expert expected 29-4. Maybe not even Mr. Basketball. An NCAA win would be punctuate this season and make us and Coach Beard household names around the country (at least among basketball fans). Whether that is great news for our program, won't be clear until 2 to 4 weeks from now.
Didn't I predict 29-4? I could swear I did. I was pretty certain we wouldn't win 30 games. This cough medicine I'm taking is really strong. Actually I think I predicted after the final game against Monroe.

I've never predict any year what I thought our record will be, but I am very proud of the fact that I was calling for a coaching change six or seven years ago. I don't recall anyone backing me up on that, and all I recall is "who could we get that would be any better." I didn't have the answer to who that person would be, but I knew that there had to be a lot of good young coaches out there that could do better. I thank the soccer mom, Chase Conque, and Chris Beard for proving me right.
bob, scott and i predicted more wins in one year than the last 2 put together..
