at least he is a good coach. They got drilled by Kentucky last year...and beat UK this year.

It's really hard to have a losing record at UCLA. Steve Alford did it this season.

their contract is a little better than ours in that it is protected on the upside by the huge buyout Alford would have to pay to leave , (which Parrish argues persuasively is unneeded at UCLA)

15-17 overall and 6-12 in the PAC 12. What bar are you using to measure his quality as a coach?

UCLA probably put this in just so it would be hard for him to go back to Indiana.
Maybe we could just trade?

By all means ignore the consecutive Sweet 16 appearances the previous two years.

do you think having critical people on their team getting injured during the year could have had something to do with it?
Also consider in his first season they won the Pac tourney and went to the NCAA, and went to the NCAA just last year.
He's better known for a disappointing tenure in Iowa....but he really came into his own at New Mexico.
Back to back Sweet 16s and a top recruiting class coming in... I'd say at least he has earned his.

Dumb, but $10 million to UCLA is a lot less of an obstacle than $10 million is to Memphis.
10 mil for JP is absurd, even when compared to anyone else in coaching period. and that means NBA coaches too!

Geez, could you image Josh's contract had he made consecutive Sweet 16s?

Well, a good coach can have a bad year...

If the bar of being a good coach is totally based on winning percentage, then there are a lot of folks here missing the boat.

He talks too positive for my ears--Alford.

And his handling of the Iowa rape is kind of haunting.
Give each coach the same team, and Alford would skull drag Joshy
So UCLA has negotiated the "second" worst contract in the country,
We are still #1 baby. Go Tigers
They're dumber because they fired a coach that went to 3 straight final fours to get him
