I wish someone would write an article on how words become popular on the Internet. I'm sure there's a doctoral linguistic student (or 10) on it by now.

Words that you rarely saw like janky, salty, etc. suddenly are so overused that you see them everywhere.

The English language is investing and complex but it seems that the lowest common denominator always determines what's popular.

Okay, you have a point and I, too, would like to understand the phenomena, but for a different reason. Language is cool, philology has always been an interest of mine.
I read yesterday that the guy who created email has passed away.

Mostly credited for use of the @ sign.

Good one. Same here. I'm not 100% sure what it even means.
The spelling of 'lose' has evolved to being spelled 'loose'.
