ODU is the odd man out. But they do hold a tiebreaker over LT.

Wood Selig and Chris Finwood won't be the only WKU fans in Norfolk this weekend.

@RIce is not an easy game, you may need to worry a little about winning that one first..
La. TEch will not be an easy match up for us, however we been playing pretty well the last month or so, so we will see...

ODU is out...about a 95 percent chance of 5th place.

Doesn't matter, we lose three or four way ties. We would have to be H2H with just La Tech and that would require Marshall and MT to lose.

This is what ODU needs.
1. Win at Rice
2. Western Kentucky to beat La Tech
3. Middle Tenn to win at FIU
If those three happen ODU will finish 4th and La Tech will be 5th

That's not correct, R8R. An ODU win puts us at 12-6 in conference and a Marshall loss drops them to 11-7.
I know that the odds are against us, but we get the 4th spot by beating Rice (if we can figure out their zone) and either a La. Tech. or a Marshall loss.

Sure, but Marshall is not losing at home to Southern Miss. It wasn't even worth considering.

No, there really is no chance. Even if we manage to survive Rice and La. Tech. falls to WKU, Empty Sue will surely lose to FIU -- just to spite us.

Here is the breakdown from Jack Bogaczyk of HerdZone.com and Herd Insider (herdinsider.com):

Herd Could Finish Third to Fifth
HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Major college basketball staffs have directors of operation, directors of scouting, video coordinators, graduate assistants and managers.
What they really need this time of year is a bracketologist and numerologist.
With Conference USA heading into the final day of the men’s basketball regular season, Marshall (15-15, 11-6) has more to consider on Senior Night at the Henderson Center than facing Southern Miss (8-20, 5-12), which will be playing its final game of 2015-16 here on Saturday night.
While the Golden Eagles, mired in NCAA sanction issues, are ineligible for next week’s C-USA Tournament in Birmingham, Ala., the Herd’s 97-94 loss Thursday night to Louisiana Tech left Marshall with no chance to get the No. 2 seed in the 13-team bracket behind UAB.
As for the aforementioned bracketologist, the Herd needs one to figure out the potential permutations for the C-USA tourney. Simply put, Marshall could be seeded anywhere between third and fifth … and the top four seeds receive byes into Thursday’s quarterfinals.
The Herd could be involved in standings ties with Louisiana Tech (23-7, 12-5 C-USA), Middle Tennessee (20-9, 12-5) and Old Dominion (18-12, 11-6), in multiple ways. Tech plays at Western Kentucky (15-15, 7-10); Middle at FIU (13-17, 7-10) and ODU at Rice (12-18, 7-10).
The only ways the Herd can get the No. 3 seed are via a three- or four-team tie. As for trying to figure it out, this longtime press-row sitter has done it for you. Here are the possible scenarios........

WOW! that could be considered a positive comment about the Western basketball program....
Tech is in deep doodoo
While Western matches up with CUSA champs UAB probably better than any team in the conference.....Tech is a nightmare match up for Western.
A tourney is as much about who you avoid
So this is a key game for Western....much rather be in the UAB side of the bracket. I think FIU or Rice loses. Just need a Western win and one of those two to lose.
Honestly if Western has figured out how to close....that's the difference between 8,9,10 and 2nd in this conference. If Western has figured that part out I like our chances in the tourney. A win Saturday might get this team over that hump.
