Yikes. Anyone listening to the post game show? JJ just called out Bacote for not being ready to play tonight.

Yep. Can't say I disagree.

He also was critical of Nik for not playing D. My view is a coach should criticize players privately.
What else is new... Jones is right.. He starts him again and he comes out and makes 2 lazy fouls 2 min into the game. We can't afford that crap. He's a senior for crying out loud.

Why? I think we will see what Bacote is made of. He will either man up or he wont
You call that criticism? Sounds like the truth. He was explaining to listeners what he wants from his bigs defensively. He also complimented biberaj and Vassor.

Just my opinion (an Vince Lombardi's as well). It builds trust and motivates but I'm sure there are always exceptions based on personnel.
Meanwhile Charlotte beat Rice in Houston 88-75. After their struggles on the road last season it's hard to believe that if ODU can win on Sat. they will have gone 7-2 on the road in conference. That could bode well for the tournament. We really need LT or Marshall to lose.

Yep. Can't say I disagree.

But according to Giles he's improved from last year..........hmm

I guess it's better than a loss but anyone expecting a miracle in Birmingham is setting themself up for disappointment.

This was yet another mediocre performance on the road against an AWFUL team.

He's got one game left in his entire odu regular season career.

You think he's going to man up NOW?

I would agree but when he have to start paying them stipends, making them employees, well, then, the rules on that will change.
I thought we played a good ball game. Our shots were a lot easier than theirs were.. Just got to knock em down. Guys are playing hard. We just struggle to shoot. It seemed like we were on fire from three, haha (5/19) and we can't afford foul trouble. With Stith on the bench we are very average. He had 7 and 8 in 14 minutes. Our coaches are doing a great job.. We have won 8/10 and about 5 weeks ago I thought we might have a losing season. Hope we can win a few more.. this has still been an easy bunch of guys to pull for. Proud of the guys for not quitting on the season even though I pretty much did. Be nice to get one back vs Rice. Go Monarchs!

And To call this a mediocre performance then I truly feel sorry for you. Why do u watch? Get over your expectations.. You're embarrassing yourself.

When did we all become so thin skin. I clearly have a different take on JJ’s comments. The coach was asked to share his observations about how the game played out and how the players reacted and preformed. WOW, I am sure these young men have heard it all before. Is it not the goal and intention for the coach to direct and critique players so they will get better and play up to their potential? None of us live in a bubble, these young men have and will be exposed to many events, comments, observations, criticisms in every aspect of life while they live, grow and eventually proceed through many stages as they grow older. I honestly cannot see how the coach’s remarks during the radio interview warrants any concern.

Everyone's a softy nowadays. Its sad. Worried about someones feelings getting hurt, this, that, and the other. Grow up and learn to take it in stride. Some teams/players learn to use that as motivation while others crawl into dark holes and shrivel. One regular season game left to see how "HE" responds. I'm not expecting much...
I avoid these in-game threads and haven't read the whole thing. Just wanted to say that I love how Denzell stepped up in the first half when Stith had to sit with the 2 fouls.

Also happy to get a road win in conference.

You can carry on with your player and coach bashing now. 07-coffee3

Having him step it up is big for this team.
I think Stith's emergence has been a really positive thing for Denzell. He seems to be much more aggressive in the last few games. If we can get 8 and 8 from him every game, it will help us a lot.
That's two games in a row that Taylor has shown some O. If he can keep that up and Stith can stay out of foul trouble, we can go places.
Taylor's production last night was partly a result of properly attacking the zone North Texas was running with the high/low post. Similar to the zone that Rice threw at us in the first game and I'm not sure we ever tried to attack it that way. And while Nik may not have played good defense, he made some good passes from the high post to Taylor down low.
