It is probable that if two decades of immigrants are checked, the numbers would likely be proportionate except for Mexico since the U.S. had a "guest worker program" (bracero programs) that invited such workers before the practice became politically charged. As our PR folks have always said, "America is the place where people want to move".
When will we see a candidate pledge to build a wall along our northern border? To date, the only arrest for terrorists trying to penetrate America was in the state of Washington - coming in from Canada. One thing for sure, such a long Atlantic to Pacific wall would certainly provide employment for a lot of Americans -- if we used only citizen laborers.
