This team is underwhelming in a very bad conference yet everyone seems to be accepting Coach K

Let's not forget how many freshman play on this team

This team to me has met expectations

Not to say that makes TK coach of year candidate but u cannot expect championship caliber from such a young team

I'm one of the tougher critics of Rockets athletics & even I think TK gets a couple more seasons to show what he can re-build. He came to what had become an absolute basketball wasteland and turned us into not only a winning team but one that at least challenged for a MAC championship. With only 2 returning starters and not a whole lot more coming back from the bench, this was looking like a .500 season, and we can still exceed that. Now, if we slide backwards in the next season or two, with a more experienced line-up, then a tough decision may have to be made.
Offense was OK last night but defense and intensity was just not there. CMU players wanted rebounds down the stretch more than the Toledo players. Also, the substitution pattern made little sense. Lauf was supposedly in a lot as the defensive stopper but he could not stop the CMU guards. The man to man did not work but there was never a zone even attempted. CMU knew just what was necessary to get open shots.

Lauf did have a tough time on D. Central's guards just too quick. He did draw a charge but also picked up fouls. I had hoped by this point that Rogers' quickness would be an asset but I guess not. The other thing about Lauf playing so much is that unless the match-up is favorable (not too often) he is less of a factor on offense. Unfortunately both of those were magnified against this particular opponent.
Tough loss, with a lot of inside shots spinning out. Booth is pretty much automatic in the paint. Really thought they would sweep the last 4 games, and now really need to at least split this week to assure home court status.

Drew back-to-back fouls on Fowler, forcing him to sit. Fowler was pretty frustrated in the first half and I thought our early intensity on D was great. Sanford was sharing Brayson's jersey all game long, although Brayson's got a couple late buckets. Simons just killed us and Garber got short minutes after not getting a good runout on an open three in the first. I thought he should have seen more time.

Agree that TK absolutely gets a chance to rebuild. But if we praise him for turning a bad program into a good one, then we also should blame him for turning that good program into an average one (at least this year). If we only have five non-freshmen on the team, that's TK's fault, isn't it?

Agreed about Garber. I really think the way for us to beat Central this year was to go inside with both Boothe AND Garber. Maybe if we see them again in the tournament...
