We are 15-12, who thinks we win at least 20 games this year?
wtf?
Pretty easy to say Under at this point, but I am sure rooting for the Over.

To get to 20 we need to win out the regular season and win 1 in Birmingham, or lose 1 of our regular season games and win 2 in Birmingham. Man that just sounds tough with how the team has been playing lately.
Over...because we'll win 1-2 in the CBI or CIT.
I'll say over or a push. I figure we'll win 3 of the next four and then 1-2 games in the conf tourney (we won't have a bye so we should have at least one winnable game there). then probably win at least a game in the CBI/CIT (I'm assuming we'll get invited to play in one of these). this all assumes TF is healthy and plays in all these games.
We will go over. Likely 19/20 wins at conclusion of season and at least two home games in the CBI/CIT

ZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZZ
i say over. if we win 17, I think we qualify for the CIT. I say we accept invitation to CIT or CBI. I know it is not what we want but the kids get more games.
This year, I don't care a bit about the CBITs. Of course, I root for the guys, but my heart just wouldn't be in it this year. When you're a young team that over achieved and is bringing everyone back, I support it because you get extra practices and give your young guys a taste of post season for the next season. Its a reward and a glimpse of things to come. Like when we won the CIT. This was a senior led team with huge expectations that fell dramatically short. I certainly wouldn't pay for any home games, and would probably just end the season if we don't win the CUSA championship.

They'll keep playing I bet if the opportunity is there.
It will take a Texas 2 step and a first round win in Birmingham. I predict we will play that damn MTSU again in the 4-5 game only this time we will be the 5. They are a monkey we need to get off our back. They are now the only C-USA team we have yet to beat and I predict we get it done this time and send them packing.
I would rather play UAB in the semifinals where I think they will be the most vulnerable. Last year they came close to losing in that round.

C-USA finals will be ODU vs Marshall where the third time will be the charm.

That's my prediction!!!!!
Senior laden team? Freeman and Bacote sure. Bib is a walk on who shouldn't even be in the line up till mop up duty except he has to play because we are short handed.
Stith,Caver,Talley,Carver,Baker,BJ Stith, Colbert,Porter could all use the extra practices, that's a big part of the future right there. You don't pout and say you give up because you didn't win as many games as some fans wanted. You continue to work for now and the future. You don't give up, if you are an athlete you want to compete and keep playing.

We will most certainly play in the CIT or similar if offered if we don't win CUSA. And I'll be there for every game they play at home if possible.
I highly doubt you will see us participate in the CBI/CIT again. With the implementation of COA and the budget getting less from institutions, ODU will need to find money everywhere it can. I feel that we're going to see cuts somewhere. I'm not an accountant, but I would imagine participation in the "lower-tiered" tourneys is closed to the top of the cut list. Now, I feel that 2 years ago ODU participated in the CBI due to the team turning it around quickly/new coaches/create a buzz/etc. which was a positive thing. However, I know that the university shelled out quite a bit of money in their past participation in the these tourneys before and want to get to the point where its NCAA/NIT only. Now does this new tourney (Vegas 16?) have what it takes to compete with the NIT? From initial glance, it looks like it has the potential but, as previous posts have stated, we've heard that before.

I had a similar thought on the money part. I would see us accepting an invitation to one of the lower level tournaments for the practice time and some extra experience with win or go home scenarios, but paying for a home game knowing we will lose money may be a luxury we no longer have.
Keep in mind the athletic dept. is still run like a business. Basketball is our biggest money generator. It takes money to make money. Our goal should be to invest in the success of the program as much as possible to reap the rewards down the road. If paying tens of thousands of dollars to participate in a pay-to-play tournament will net you hundreds of thousands of dollars in future seasons with NIT and NCAA tournament runs, it's definitely worth the investment. If spending money to play in more games and guarantee postseason opportunities for this squad convinces other recruits that ODU is firmly invested in the program and it is the deciding factor in them coming here, it's worth the investment.

I see your economic point. However I feel that the University higher-ups no longer place these tournaments in high regard as they once did.
Evidence to support your point, Nuke?
Wouldn't turning down a postseason tournament be considered a lack of support towards Jeff Jones entering Year 4 of his rebuilding process? For that reason alone I think they pursue postseason play.
Not to mention we only need to sell 4k seats to break even for each game (assuming concessions can cover the operating expenses). It's not really a huge investment for a school like ours with solid attendance.
