Don't look now but UTEP is quietly making an end of season run going into CUSA.

Finally, Floyd has cut these guys loose and let them play. I'm going to predict that they will win 20 games this season and Floyd will save his job.

They took us to the woodshed Saturday
I really wish you'd waited one more game
This team has 10 new faces and it took some time for them and the coaches to figure things out. Not to mention that sis of the new faces had not played an actual game in over a year. Add to that Omega Harris having to sit out the first semester.
Terry Winn- Red shirted last season
Trey Touchet- Red shirted last season
Jack Flaggert- Red shirted last season
Tevin Caldwell- Red shirted last season
Dominic Artis- did not play last season
Lee Moore- got injured 5 games into his sophomore season in juco and didn't play the rest of the year.

I have been very disappointed with the team until our latest winning streak. I am not sold that the team can win on the road despite beating FAU and FIU. If, and that is a big if, UTEP can sweep ODU and Charlotte then the team is going to be a tough out in the CUSA tournament.
IMO, Terry Winn starting over Vint has been a game changer. Also, Lee Moore is continuing to make his case for first team CUSA.
We'll find out pretty soon how much these Miners have improved with the games Thursday and Saturday. I'm hoping that it's a lot, if we win.

Any TV?
UTEP peaking at the right time.

ODU game is on FOX Sports Network. No TV for Charlotte.

You are right about Winn. Also, Vint, with his length coming off the bench can throw a monkey wrench at the opposition at key times during a game.

I think we'll get by ODU who has a hard time scoring more than 70 points while we can make it into the 80s or 90s on the road. Also, ODU seems beatable at home having lost 4 of their last 6 at their house.

I'm interested to hear what our ODU comrades think about these statements.

Good luck ODU and may the shortest, fastest team win. 04-cheersCOGS

Who are you and what did you do with fitbutt? Keep this up and I might have to take you off of ignore. Oh, I know what it is, the Donald is making all the trolls seem reasonable (J K). Good thread, fit...04-cheers

But, you're a goofball if you really think Floyd's job is on the line.

It's crazy to think, but, I'll say the Charlotte game could be tougher than ODU. 49ers can score.
Very much looking forward to Thursday's game -- with near zero expectations for how our guys might perform (or not).

Despite the two-time-zone distance between the schools, UTEP brought an impressive number of fans to our last home match up two seasons ago. I assume that most were east-coast situated alum, but it was still nice to see.

That Miner team was huge. Sounds like you guys may have gone through the shrink cycle since then.

What's going on with Bacote? He was the man the first season in CUSA. He played Robin well last year. Freeman's attempts have gone way up. Seems like a offensive presence other than Trey isn't stepping up. The Stith brothers will dominate next year.

I think you are probably right. They'll be harder to match up against.

He's definitely been in some kind of mental funk most of this season.

There's a not-so-quiet debate on our board as to whether Coach Jones has simply beaten the competitive fire out of him. I'm not qualified to know whether that's the case or not, but it sure would be nice if he could shake out of it in time for the tournament.
I say you win just enough to save Floyd's job, so he'll be back next season to underachieve again!

Yet UTEP's underachieving years would be the best in program history for many in CUSA.

Floyd is finally doing what I've been hoping he would do for years. He's letting these guys play. They are finally having fun out there and it's many times more exciting than what we are used to seeing. Granted, it's 6 years too late for me but this is what I was hoping for when they hired the guy.

That said, I know it's wishful thinking that Floyd is out after this season. My only hope now is that they win the CUSA tournament and some P5 school snatches him up. But hey, we can always dream. COGS
No Houstonesque runs in the tourney please. Marshall needs to get back in the NCAA tourney, and this is our best shot in 30 years basically.

Going have to win the CUsAB tourney. Tough to beat a home crowd and refs as evidenced last year.
