Early game today. DH with the women.
An EMU win today and Tuesday (vs) WMU, and we could be tied for the last home court game in the tourney.
BTW, in long seasons (18 conf. games) cream rises to the top and teams with issues sink. in long seasons, teams 'regress' to their 'true level.'
Lot of things predicted here by Sam and others are coming true.
BG lost a lot over the off season. Ditto UB. (I think folks are not surprised these two are now struggling). WMU lost Tava.
MIA was and is bad. NIU has come down to earth. We lack depth to be a top tier team (we'd struggle in the tourney with back to back to back games).
BSU, I have no idea why they are playing so well. God and the game officials must be shining down on them. And fans started showing up at Worthen Arena:
"Ball State defeated Northern Illinois 63-59 to solidify its hold on first place in the West. Rowdy season best crowd of more than 5,000 rocked Worthen Arena. Cards now 6-0 against the West."
Quite frankly, guys, one doesn't need to be a sports mgt major or an economist with Ph.D. level knowledge of statistical modeling (or some discipline which understands consumer behavior) to realize that if teams which start winning big see big increases in attendance (and vice versa).
BSU, while not as bad as EMU and NIU, have had big problems drawing decent crowds...
BTW, this reminds me of the old joke, it has a N.Y. ethnic slant to it. The son comes home and tells his mother something 'profound' that he learned in college today, complete with expressive vocabulary, etc. but it was what everyone already knew but not in 'fancy terms.' (might be a psych student who learns a 'new term' for a not common phobia. so instead of a fear of (something) it has a greek (?) name followed by the word 'phobia.' ). Fear of snakes, regardless of what one calls it, goes back many, many thousands of years...
She grasps her hands and says: "my son, my son I sent you to college to learn that?"
Well, that is like the expensive studies of what can be done to increase attendance. Save the money: #WinningMatters.
