What has happened to ODU's wrestling program? I thought they were on the rise a year or two ago. Now they are 0-6 in their conference? Any idea what has been the downfall?
That's their dual meet record. ODU is a strong tournament team with 4-5 guys capable of making the finals, but they lack depth and aren't very strong at every weight class, so they're not as good in duals.
Yesterday was an all time low. I say we have 3 guys that can make a run to the podium at the NCAA next month
Not worth its own depressing thread, but could this be the most disappointing sports year in ODU history? Or at least on a short list? Think about: Football had its first losing season, the way they did it (and the lack of development at QB) made it worse, and the delays/downgrading of the football stadium project does not bode well. Men's basketball speaks for itself. Women's basketball has its moments, then drenches them in a downpour of bad play. Men's soccer had a good start, then fell apart down the stretch. Wrestling is having probably its worst season under Martin. I don't know if field hockey was expected to be great, but they didn't have a tremendous year by ODU field hockey standards. Here's hoping baseball has a bonkers season, I guess?
I wouldn't get your hopes up about baseball.
IT IS THE UNDER ARMOUR CURSE!!!!

Have they been better in recent years in dual meet competition? I don't follow them very much but do catch a score occasionally.

They've been better in duals arguably every year since Martin has taken over, but this might be our strongest NCAA tournament team during his tenure. We have 4-5 guys who could/should be All-Americans.
