I am watching the 1973 NCAA finals on Youtube. Memphis St vs. UCLA, the game when Walton was 22 of 23 from the field. It just does not seem to me that the defenses back in those days were nearly as physical as they are today. Not nearly as many shots were really challenged, and players were given a lot more space to get off their shots. Of course, their outside shots would only count 2 points, and that might be part of the reason.
