Scouting:
Houston is a very odd team. They blow hot and cold. They start out 3-0 in conference before losing 4 straight games. They nearly beat SMU on the road and do beat them at home and then lose to USF at home. They follow up their home win against SMU with a 14 point road loss to Tulsa. From looking at the roster with all of their guards you would expect them to be pretty good at turning the other team over and they are averaging 5.2 steals per game and 13 turnovers per game. Another thing you might expect is for Houston to not be a very good rebounding team but that would be partially true. They are one of the best offensive rebounding teams (9th in offensive rebounding %) but don't do a good job on the defensive boards (278th in defensive rebounding %).

Should be an interesting game. Hopefully the bad Houston team shows up with the good Memphis team.

Trivia:
Devonta Pollard, one of Houston's key reserves played at Alabama but not when Tarrant was there. His mom kidnapped a girl in a dispute and was later sentenced to 25 years in prison. Devonta said he didn't know about the plot until it was too late and was able to avoid prosecution if he stayed out of trouble for 2 years. He also testified against his mom. Memphis at one time was recruiting him. He transferred out of Alabama to East Miss CC before going to Houston.

Quote:Pastner indicated this week we could see more lineup changes or other adjustments as he looks to get the most out of his team over the final eight games of the regular season. "Senior walk-on) Caleb Wallingford could start on Wednesday. I could start Caleb Wallingford and (freshman walk-on) Dante Scott as my backcourt," Pastner said. "That's our mentality moving forward. We're going to take it one day at a time, have fun with it and see where it all falls."

Consistent in his inconsistency.

that's cool if he's just trying to say he has talented kids where he could start any of them...and drops the names of some hard working walk ons...with no intentions of actually doing it.

if he actually does it....ugh!

How about starting the best players on the team coach?

Wait, I thought this was Division I, mens basketball. I didn't realize it was rec league boys basketball. WTF, going to have fun with it?? I don't want fun, I want a competetive team that wins games Josh. Your ass is on the hotseat and you spew nonsense like that?? Cmon man, you are far smarter than that.

Well, if he did start those two walk-ons, that would be essentially giving the Memphis fanbase the finger. As in "I'm the coach and you can't do anything about it".

Go ahead Josh, make my day! Either the guy has lost it or he is so egotistical that he believes that he is safe no matter what.

I think starting two walk-ons could get him fired immediately, in the current environment.

I have coached youth teams a bunch of times. They always seem to have fun but they have the most fun when they win even if they don't play well.

My opinion is that he's been told he will have one more year, so he's playing some of these players to give them as much game experience as possible going into next season.

Yeah, his profile shows him as an All American, even as Eddie carries the Union Jack, too.

And surely Pastner is just saying, "It's kind of up in the air who starts..." or at least,
"I'll determine the starting lineup based on how I feel at gametime..." and not speaking literally.

And now I'll stop calling you Shirley.
He's trolling you guys.

Probably, just want to see how far he takes it. Starters, playing time and substitution patterns have always been bonkers.
T....I....G....E....R....S.....TIGERS! GOOOOO TIGERS!
Just start the bench players.
Something may click, can't hurt.
This season is pretty much over now anyway.
Season is basically the week in Orlando
I'm really looking forward to this game. Which Tigers team will show up? If they can knock out a win, they could possibly string a few together. But, the opposite could happen, as well. How good is UH? We'll see. I'm also eager to see who's in the starting lineup.

GO TIGERS!!
Josh reminds me of a rich kid playing with expensive toys that most or none of us can have.
Wallingford only has this year of eligibility.

If he starts him, we will know Caleb won 'best attitude' of the week.
