The Flashes host Northern Illinois on Tuesday evening and boy do the good guys need a win. The Huskies have plummeted back down to earth. Their four game skid includes a loss to Miami. Something has to give Tuesday.
c'mon flashes... we neeeeeeeeeeeeed this one
We're not going to win any games post-season if we can't close out games. We were up by 70-60 with 1:58 left, and by 1:07 it was 73-69. Went down 74-73 and had to get 2 free throws and fight for a rebound to win it.
Nice crowd
Had them all the way.

Nothing will be easy for this team.
If Dwin hadn't missed that dunk on the lob in the last two minutes, they would have put it away.

Only 2700. The student crowd was ok but general admission was very very sparse.

Couldn't really blame the injuries too much as many times Pollard and Walker didn't play in these situations.
Hey all we can hope for is pulling out a few more wins so we at least have a home game in round 1. According to an article in the PD Walker will be back in 1-3 weeks and Pollard has a chance to be back by tournament week (I'm not holding my breath but that's what Senderhoff was quoted as saying).

Walker is likely coming back (they knew that all along, but wanted to keep it on the DL). Pollard, from what I have heard, will not be back. But we can all hope.
How effective can a recovering player be after not playing for so long? Guess we do have to hope.

If I was the coach, I'd be having the team watch that last two minutes over and over again. It shows 3 big things...
1) You can lose a ten point lead in 2 minutes
2) Here's how a team can lose it
3) Here's how a team can go from 10 back to a lead in 2 minutes

They'd see a team go from 73-64 to down 74-73 in 1:10 with...
a stupid foul
a missed dunk
a turnover against pressure
a missed jump shot
no rebounds for KSU
a shot blocked by KSU, but controlled by NI leading to a score

I hope this becomes a learning moment.
Probably in the minority here, but I think we need to get Spicer more looks in the post. The don't double him because of Hall and he can get his jump hook off against pretty much anyone and it's become very consistent. He's shooting 61.5% this year. I'd be trying to get him at least 8-10 post looks every game.

Edwin has impressed me the last couple games. He's obviously a very important player going forward so hopefully he keeps it up. One of the better rebounding guards I've seen at Kent.

Got some solid minutes out of Avery last night too.

Totally agree. Kent is missing the boat by not taking advantage of him. Hall is double and tripled almost everytime he gets the ball. Leaves the door open for Spicer time and time again. Spicer could easily get 20 points per game. Who doesn't understand this!! 01-lauramac2
IMO, we are not a good enough passing team. Even tho Hall has improved, he does not dish it off well when crowded. Spicer has the same problem and he seems to lose the handle when pressed.

<snip>

I've given up waiting for Spicer to suddenly become an All-MAC player. Offensively, all I've seen he can do is get the ball within 6 feet of the basket, and take a shot. If he holds the ball for more than 3 seconds, he gets surrounded and can't do anything. He doesn't have any other shots he likes to take, and he hasn't been able to pass when covered.

I like Khaliq, but I don't expect a big change after 3 2/3 seasons
Agree. A player that should have been given a redshirt at some point.
Spicer had a good matchup Saturday. To his credit he took advantage of it but against most teams he has much more of a challenge. You can't count on him.
