Who?

Probably the best player in the history of Western Michigan. Certainly the smartest. Never did have a MAC championship, but then look at the coaching staff.

Oh yeah, the same dude who wears UM gear everywhere.

What hardware did DK win, anyway?

For once, I agree with Charm.

He isn't a Bronco. Just a guy who played here because he couldn't find a better option.

...And there are several Bronco players who were better than DK.
Pretty shocked at what this thread turned into. Hating on Kool because you see him post stuff about Michigan football on social media is peak silliness. These guys just play for your favorite sports team, you don't get to own them.
I wish Hawk would tell Wilder to be our David Kool.

Do former UM and MSU bball players wear rival gear? I don't think so. As an alum, I don't think it's too much to ask former stars to not slap us in the face after rooting for them.

Screw DK, should have let him play at Aquinas.

Wanna wear U-M and MSU gear? Transfer.

Any Bronco graduate, particularly a varsity athlete, who wears gear from opposing/rival schools deserves to be a victim of the knock-out game.

Hold nothing back for these bastards.

This is ridiculous! David Kool is a Bronco. He contributed many years of good basketball. This isn't fair to David! He not only was a good player who provided years of sweat and hard work to WMU But also provided a lot of enjoyment and entertainment to Bronco fans when he played! MSU and Michigan aren't competition. They are high major schools. We are mid-major. When MSU or Michigan are playing in big games, I always root for them because I love the state of Michigan! If DK was walking around in Central or Eastern gear I would be upset but he was at the game last night supporting his Broncos. Who cares if he supports and likes our high major universities as well? It's not disloyal.

Where did you earn your degree? I root for the school where I earned my degree, WMU. I also "love" the state of Michigan, but it doesn't mean I'm rooting for a school I didn't attend, nor wearing their gear.

What is a "high major" school anyway?

Not competition?

So WMU has never competed against MSU or U-M in anything?

Are you for real? 01-wingedeagle

Who was that team from East Lansing in Waldo last September who WMU was v-e-r-y competitive with late in the 4th quarter?

How many times have WMU's basketball, hockey, and baseball teams beaten U-M?

When WMU wins the MAC in basketball, it participates in the SAME championship tournament as U-M and MSU.

Western Michigan University is a DIVISION I athletic program. Same level as the bastards from EL and AA.

This isn't D-III Olivet College.05-nono

If you can't support WMU, transfer.

Kool was wrong and should be called-out. 05-mafia
^^^ Exactly!

Why should I root for these guys if they're just going to slap me in the face when they graduate by telling us that WMU isn't worthy of their support?

Screw DK. I only wish I lived in GR so I could attend a Jenison bball game.
I'm sorry if you don't understand the difference between mid major and high major, it's tough to help you but I will try. Literally millions of dollars! Hockey is completely different. There are only 80+ hockey programs in the nation and the sports at those schools range from division I to Division III. The commitment level of those schools to their hockey programs is high. Men's basketball does compete for the same championship but it doesn't mean they are playing on an equal playing court. By your definition Praireview A&M is also playing for the same championship and has the same chance as MSU, Kansas, Duke, Etc but we know its ludicrous! For anyone that was at the MSU v WMU football game, you may have had the illusion that we were competitive but I was on the field that day and can tell you we were not competitive. First game of the season vs an unfamiliar opponent and WMU had 2 or 3 huge plays on special teams and that was the only thing that kept us in that game. Proof is in the pudding. WMU finished in the middle of our conference and MSU went on to compete in the national championship game! The level of athelete is completely different!

I graduated from WMU and am a proud alum and donor and for the record wear the "mid major" label like a badge of honor. We do occasionally compete and win against these high major schools with a much lesser budget and resources and are proud of it. If you think mid major and high major don't exist ask yourself why there is a big ten network, SEC network, PAC 12 network, etc...they all have billion dollar contracts and that money goes directly to those schools. There is no MAC network, Missouri Valley Network, etc...

As far as David Kool goes, when you grow up in a family that are Michigan fans, I don't see the problem with rooting for Michigan. There is no question in my mind that if WMU and Michigan played against each other on basketball, he would proudly show up in Bronco gear. I know this young man.
DK posts pics of him exclusively in UM gear. Not Bronco gear. I bet if WMU was in the final 4 he would finally jump on our bandwagon; but for now he dons the maize and blue. As stupid as I feel, being a proud WMU grad and having to see this idiot (who stared on our basketball team after receiving a full scholarship until he graduated from WMU) acting like he stared on his favorite UM team instead, and doing it in the face of bronco faithful, he himself looks like the pathetic wanabe ******* that he is.

I always hated it when I was a kid growing up in the Detroit suburbs, seeing kids wearing Steelers or Cowboys jackets. Hey, we live in Detroit, so like it or not the Lions are our team. You cant pretend you live someplace else.

The most pathetic cop out of all the excuses bandwagoners give. "I grew up rooting for scUM/MSU," or "my family is a scUM/MSU family." Have some character and integrity and root for your school, not a school you (and likely half your family) didn't attend.

We don't forgive meth addicts for getting family members hooked on meth, why should we for scUM and MSU?
DK may be a decent guy. I don't know him so I cant assess. But what we are complaining about is very poor form to say the least.

I have no problem if he had a kid or relative who played on UM team, and he was supporting him. But he simply is representing himself as a Wolverine. That aint cool.

Couple of things... Don't follow DK on social media if this bothers you! He shows up to a lot of Bronco events and simply ask current and former players how they feel about DK and I guarantee they will say he is their brother! He's a Bronco and can wear whatever he wants and shame on the couple of you people that don't recognize or appreciate the blood, sweat snd tears he put into the basketball program!
I do appreciate the effort and his accomplishments. He was a talented guy, and a very committed player. I have a probem with his clear allegiance to UM, as if it was the school he played for. A Bronco, particularly a prominent Bronco athlete like DK, should know how shallow it is to be posting those pics and comments. It would be like Barry Sanders showing up to his Hall of Fame induction wearing Cowboys gear, since its the team he rooted for as a kid. Come on DK, you owe the Broncos more respect than that!
I had a young teacher in high school. He was very popular with students. He was a WMU grad, but he was much more known for being a big MSU fan. It didn't really bother me then (because I didn't know at the time I would be bound for WMU), but it would really bother me now. MSU and UM are great schools, but so is WMU. Show some g0d d4mn pride, I'm sick and tired of people screwing WMU so they can fly other schools' colors.
