Watts is shooting 20/45 = .444 from 3. 04-jawdrop 04-jawdrop

Watts has really improved, most likely the most improved player out of the 2013 class. Smallwood averages the same amount of points Lewis does and more than Tyler he could definitely replace one of those two. Sullivan is definitely moving better without that huge brace but gets abused in the post at times.

The younger guys definitely have more potential, and the 2015 class could be Haase best class even though he missed on alot of guys.

I'm not saying this team is great. They could be, but they haven't proven that yet.

What I'm saying is that Haase won more CUSA and NCAA games at UAB in one season than Mike Davis did in six years. End of conversation.

Im not saying Davis was great but he was the last coach that UAB accomplished some things under. Like having an ranked team and getting guys drafted. Also as much as it was a letdown his fourth that NIT created alot of buzz for the program and he couldve had a recruiting class that topped power five guys.

We were ranked for one week under Davis. We should've signed him to a lifetime contract. 03-drunk

Our buzz from last year's tournament was greater than any NIT buzz we had under Davis. Iowa State, the #9 team in the country at the time, is still having nightmares over that game. How many top 10 wins did Davis have?

Top part: it worked for Watson and Neil.

I doubt any still have nightmares about it and had we actually played Iowa St it wouldnt be close.

Who knows? Maybe we get "lucky" again.

He's talking about in Niceville.

Sullivan excels offensively when he plays against smaller line ups. He defends guards and forwards really well. He even got the better of Diaz a couple times of the offensive end the other night.
I believe Sullivan is the most improved player this season.

Diaz made him eat his lunch a few times on defense. I wish we played Sullivan more on the perimeter allow him to shoot it. I think it would open things up a little more and keep the ball moving. Smallwood Lee Sullivan Williams and Watts should be the second lineup great shooting presence.

Dirk being the type of fifth guard we needed was the piece missing last year as we lost Chad and his four assist a game. He definitely more of a true guard than Madison. Watts has adjusted to the college game well enough you can see his growth year three but he still has a hard time getting to his spots at time.

Remember the reports from Spain? Lew hit 6 3's one game.

Remember the jsu game??? His open court move and finish. I think we are wasting him in the post after moving Rucker out there. I think Sullivan and Madison should help the backcourt more. If we move him to the perimeter. i think we could average 85 but we cant keep giving up 70 to thid level of competition.
IDK we match up well with ISU. A lot of times it's about matchups. I still think we would have lost to ISU but it would have been close. That would also mean we were playing better because we would have beaten Illinois to get to them.
This thread and the one on Smallwood need to be analyzed by experts.

It's a bad as a derail can get.

hahaha, thats great!!! I remember seeing him sooo often ( like at the Radio Call In Shows ) , just texting his a$$ off, seeming to not pay attention to anything else.
Davis' dry humor could be pretty funny during post game interviews at times. It's a bit strange looking at his career here in retrospect. With the exception of his first and last year's here he won between 22-25 games every year at a time when CUSA was definitely better than what it is now (even though it didn't seem like that good of a league at the time because UM was so dominant) and he had some pretty decent OOC wins. We were so close to going to the tournament 4 of the 6 years he was here. Unfortunately we sucked in nearly every big conference game, especially Memphis, and were complete no shows for the CUSA tournament .

I was ready to move on from Davis at the end and definitely enjoy watching a Hasse coached team over a Davis coached team any day, but I really wonder how he would fare if he was our coach today.

Judging by his terrible recruiting towards the end, not good.

Haase would have more conference tournament wins last year than Davis did in 18. At a certain point it is no longer a fluke.
I have never seen the air come out of Haase the way it did Davis when things got bad in a game. He'd get his sulk on, go quiet and just sit there looking at the floor.

Nall this conference sucks, Haase should dominate 3.0, 9/14 teams in this conference has a losing record.

Agreed. Davis would have found a way to lose in the first round Though. He wasn't losing to top seeds in the conference tournament.
