and Monken was contacted by many of his agents about CFB HC jobs offering $2M+ and Monken didn't even consider them. That's very interesting.

This all according to Bill McGillis himself, Jason Munz (USM Beat writer) and Jon Wiener (MS Multimedia sports journalist):

It's one of those where I respect Monk, cause he wanted to build a winner, come hell or high-water and he's got us on the right track to doing that over the long haul. Now Hopson has to just carry on what Monk started.
Your second address must be wrong.
What else would you expect him to say?
What is he suppose to say? "Yes multiple coaches turned down the job and Monken took the first train out after his first winning season." He can spin it anyway he likes but most people know better. BTW, I think USM has made the right hire in Hopson.
Here's what makes that statement unbelievable..

he choose a coach coaching FCS or what ever they were over a CUSA coach that was turning around UAB. So if you believe that statement on paper this is a bad hire. Might turn out great but to take a unknown over a known with FBS experience on the surface looks like a mistake
So, you boys are calling our AD a lier?
I will say this. He did not make that claim after the basketball hire.

And by saying it, he put a bullseye on himself if Hopson is not successful.

Didn't need to listen to the audio because I wasn't saying your AD never said this...
So which statement are you referring to that seems "unbelievable"?

It's unbelievable that he chooses a FCS coach over a proven CUSA coach if any of them would have took the job if offered
Your AD is a liar.

That's okay. I feel like nowadays lying is part of an AD's job description.
BM explains everything. It's only "unbelievable" because you won't listen to the podcast.

Well, no. But he is a liar. So's ours.

He didn't take him over Clark. USM contacted the UAB press and asked permission to contact our coach. Permission granted. Contact made. Clark declined the offer.
No, Clark didn't decline the offer, there never was one.
Sports soap opera.Does any of this follow-up blabber really matter?

Southern Miss got a good new coach.Hope he gets many great wins.BEAT uk !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thank you. This is why nobody here is a liar. Billy Mac can say with a straight face that they all wanted the job. He probably asked them "why do you want this job?" and I doubt anyone flat-out said "I don't." Now, personally, I think maybe Clark just wanted to sniff around USM for free. It's not as if he's got a whole lot on his plate for a football coach. But McGillis can't think or talk that way. He's conducting a job search; the people involved all have to project optimism and confidence.
