Must have had a very long handle on that hammer.

We actually knocked down a significant chunk of that building which says something about the quality of construction.

Yep, primarily the East side, construction starts in March. It appears some other buildings are going to get torn down, specifically Carter East and West. I bet the wrecking ball starts on those this summer. Looks like a few others just need renovation. Here are my thoughts on the buildings noted:

Glass Bowl Renovation starts in March so underway
Carter East Will be demolished, currently mothballed
Carter West Will be demolished, currently mothballed
University Hall Certainly will be renovated
Libbey Hall Renovate
McComas Renovate
Tucker Renovate
Parks Tower Renovate
Transportation Center. I don't know much about this building?

Libbey seems to me gorgeous and appropriate in and out. Other than some code things I really hope they do not do much. Would love to see the restaurant back in there. Only place a poor person could go, get a good tasting reasonably priced meal in a truly elegant environment. Plates with UT logo, piano, real silverware.

UT: does it even have a restaurant - hotel management degree? If not, get one. Next big thing.

Scott Park has to be the 500 pound gorilla in the room. I see that slowly being shuttered. Nothing wrong with vacant land, some athletic fields and remote parking, but makes no sense to have any employees, students, or anything there beyond that. We can certainly make room for 99 employees and related academic needs on the main campus. Sounds like U Hall has a lot of capacity according to the report.

You can't just make room for certain types of research facilities. UT is probably tied to that space more than they can totally avoid. Just like any research university, UT has needs that do not fit on a main campus.

BTW - I used to work with a guy named Scott Park. He had a beard long before this current craze of beards. Maybe it's his son.
