Thanks God all turned out OK in the end. What a scare!!!
TU statement:

TU athletics officials confirmed that a charter airline carrying the University of Tulsa men's basketball team today encountered mechanical difficulties and returned safely to Tulsa International Airport. The team was enroute to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania for tomorrow nights basketball game at Temple. The plane departed TulsaAir at approximately 3:15 p.m. and returned at approximately 3:40 p.m. The team will leave today on a commercial flight to Philadelphia. Happy all are safe. Scary!
Very scary situation. Glad everything turned out ok.
Glad everyone is safe.
Good thing they were still close, and not stranded somewhere in Kentucky or West Virginia

They would have been ok in Kentucky. That's where cincys international airport is.
I thought that plane looked familiar that's an Embraer 145 regional jet with rolls royce engines made in brazil seats 50.

Yes it's one of Kentucky's crowned jewels.
Glad everyone's ok, thank God above.
Yikes! Glad that turned out ok
WOW, talk about putting things in perspective. Thank God everyone is OK! Tulsa fans, I will never forget the hospitality that you and your community gave to Devon Walker and the Tulane family. I wish nothing but the best for you guys. Outstanding people!!!!!

Thank God everyone is OK!!
That plane is designed to fly on one engine, I should know I used to fix it

Thank you. We certainly understand that since our own Dennis Byrd had a similar injury playing for the NY Jets. All you can do is pray and hope for the best.

And apparently it did just fine. They were 5-10 minutes out and spent 15 minutes circling back and making a priority landing. No on seems to indicate it was mass panic, and the crew just told the passengers "we have a mechanical issue and need to return to the airport." Only when landed did they explain what the mechanical issue was!

Follow up reporting today says that Southwest Airlines helped the team by providing center row seating for them a couple of hours later. Small help... but for a bunch of guys 6' 6" +, ever little bit helps!

Nothing like some drama on the way to the game!
Glad the charter flight landed safely....now Tulsa will have to see how it is for other programs like UCF that can't afford to fly Charter and always have to fly commercial (which means connection flights in/our of Tulsa).

Tulsa having charters (for women's program too) is a big boon to them on the recruiting trail (along with others like Memphis, UCONN, etc...).
How can UCF have over 10x the students and not afford basketball charters?

My thoughts as well.

I know Sampson had asked for charter flights. Can any UH fans say if we are still flying commercial?
