U of MD is an elite research school, top ten between the combination of College Park and Baltimore.
Some tabloid smear piece won't change that.

I've got nothing against smacking a school/conference you don't like and rubbing it in their face when something unseemly is reported.
But such a thing is neither college sports nor conference realignment.

Loh has been running the school more like a business than an academic institution.
If the powers that be allowed multiple threads about the benefits of the CIC and how it will drive realignment, then this is a valid thread for pointing out how crap research may ultimately redefine how research endeavors are funded and monitored in the future.
Concussion studies (be they fake or real) are very relevant to college sports.

That's because College Park was losing money at an astronomical rate. It shouldn't have to be this way - but desperation happens when The Washington Post starts writing about the Terrapins losing $40-50m a year (I'm doing this from memory here).
It was a big deal here in Maryland.
