Not the first time and not the last. Those in power at UAT have little minds, and serve on the UABOT.
The University of Alabama embarrasses itself by____________.

Feel free to fill in the blank. The options are almost infinite.
Who cares?

Let 'em push little Mercer around if it makes them feel like a man.
Scarb needs to let this go.
Ha, I when I saw the thread I was thinking it didn't make much difference. Then I saw that it was about football and got where he was coming from.

Honestly, I'm not one in favor of forcing it. We don't need to play Alabama. It's nice for him to make a point on account of the buy money going out when it could simply be staying in the system, but we're not dependent on Alabama. Not having them on the schedule isn't going to kill us. One day, sure. There's no rush, though.
Boy, the #1 commented thread. Really hit a nerve with 'bama fans. They are sensitive bunch in general, though.
I thought the UAB schedule was already finalized when UA announced these Mercer games. Are we sure UAB even wanted to schedule a game?

My gut tells me this is clickbait.

Haha yeah. They keep talking about how UA subsidizes UAB, as if they forget that Alabama is also a university with about 30% of the revenue as UAB.
Less. Put UAT and UAH together and they're close to 30%.
I have no interest in playing them.
I embarrass myself by reading Scarbo sometimes
I'd rather play Ohio State, Oklahoma, UCLA, Penn State, etc.
Alabama A&M will suffice for me & maybe down the road JSU.
Playing them would be a serious mistake: we've done well putting across #FreeUAB and #TheReturn as our message, with really good earned media. The narrative is flowing the way we want it.

Playing bammer turns that narrative into whenwillSabanputinthefourthstringQBandwhatdidHehaveforbreakfast. It derails our story. This has to remain our story, so it has to be about UAB. No bammer, to a lesser extent no Auburn.
At this point it's irrelevant. Our staff have good interactions with their staff and a lot of these players know each other so it's obvious that this is coming from above. We've been here at D1 for 20 years and they've sent millions of dollars out of state in that time scheduling buy games for literally anyone else that would come and take a beating. It's clear to any thinking person (excluding al.com trolls) that have no intention of playing us simply out of spite. Whatever.

I say let's build this thing and get a playoff spot. Ending their season there just one time would make everything worth it
Bama A&M better class of fan base than tuscsloosa.

UAB needed teams for 2017. UA knew it needed to fill a slot for it's 2017 schedule the whole time and had open slots for 2017. UA released it's final team for 2017 after UAB filled ours. Think about it, UA still had open slots when UAB was looking.
Also, I get tired of hearing how we should cheer for all state schools but at the same time this school is too good to be bothered with playing other state schools. Elitism

That being said, I don't care if we play them or not. FOR ME, there was an open slot for 2017 and that was an opportunity to fill a game for both schools. We don't know if Clark reached out to them or not and visa versa. We have our schedule and we're good.
But your statement makes it seem like "Oh, UAB finalized their schedule already so UA never had a chance to ask." correct me if I'm wrong.
