Western & Central are all over that list. EMU.........01-rivals

Guys like Bullough & Reed already have one foot out the door looking for their next job, so they aren't really giving it 100%. Creighton....meh. Neatherly, no idea. The rest of the staff......??????

Yeah Bullough doesn't seem with it recruiting wise. Have no idea why. He's getting a paycheck. The most active guys I see are Grubb, Haywood and Neatherly. Doesn't help with your recruiting grad assistant has UMass gear all over his twitter. On the more positive side staff has started slow and tends to close strong.
Our 6th commit:

I'm excited to announce that I'm committing to Eastern Michigan university

Bullough should be a really good Michigan recruiter because of his family history and resume. The only reason he's not is because he doesn't care, making no effort, one foot out the door. That goes back to the top, to Creighton and Neatherly, and holding these guys accountable. If he was brought in knowing it was only for a year or two, that's fine. But if we're basically doing you a favor, by giving you a paycheck during your 'transition' phase, you should at least be doing your entire job, and recruiting is a big part.

As I've said, he seems to be a good coach, and the players like him, but the lack of recruiting is a problem.

I see Reed doing abit more but hey while we're paying you give it your best you expect the players to give 110% so lead by example in all phases of your job as coach. this program can't afford half ass production or investment on anyone who is connected with the fb program or there won't be a football program. Its a simple as that.

See July roster thread on WMU Football and comment after this M Live article. It seems that some WMU fans think PJ Fleck "games" the system recruiting rankings.

????????

I'm not sure what to make of it.

If I lived in a cave, and not read this (our) forum I'd say: "That's terrible" but we have lost a lot of players too.

My gut reaction is that as football teams approach 100 members, that a certain amount of attrition is normal.

Drawing an analogy to basketball, the 'average' D-I basketball team might lose 20% of its roster to transfer or quit in a season.

As far as 'gaming' the ranking system: Not sure what that means. Teams try to get commits and sign as many talented recruits as possible.

Of course I'm not a cussing pj of anything the emu fan comments will need to speak for themselves if you go to the thread and read them there is a nice comment that coaches set standards and its up to the player to meet or exceed them

Quite frankly, I find this discussion pretty much pointless.

WMU has lost members of their recruiting class before their first game but so have we (e.g., Keels plus some JUCOs).

In hoops, Northeastern lost true frosh Ty Groce before fall classes began...
On a more serious note, a recruit Tweeted a copy of a letter which I guess could be called a written/verbal offer to be a member of the 2017 recruiting class.

It is in writing, so it is written, but it is really a written statement of what a verbal commitment is (i.e., until the LOI is signed in Feb everything is simply a verbal agreement between the recruit and school).

It clearly states all of the caveats to how recruiting works (e.g., can't sign until Feb. 2017, max of 85 scholarships, max of 25 per recruiting class and that EMU allocates LOI by position and they are given out until gone, etc.).

As I have been want to say, an offer until accepted means very little.

IF EMU wants say only 1 QB or TE or P in a particular recruiting class, and they make multiple offers at those positions, the first accepted offer at the particular position is considered to gotten it and the other verbal offers are null and void. Or 'the early bird gets the worm.'

This is, of course, why some recruits 'jump' at an offer: "a bird in the hand is better than two in the bush."

Then go back to your cave. I am very aware other programs lose players too and emu isn't unique which is why I posted it in the first place. Next time I use bread crumbs so you can follow steve

Non-story, common everywhere. If we could only recruit at half the level Fleck does, we might build an average team.
