Seems about a season too late.
I hope so, but I have my doubts that our AD will do anything. He ran our football program into the ground by keeping Price around too long and he's trying to do the same to the basketball program apparently. Floyd probably shouldn't even get on the plane.
I can't see UTEP paying out his contract to let him go.
Wish i had thought of his strategy when i was coaching youth baseball. Get chunked and you dont have to shake hands.

The search is under way on UTEP message boards at least. No one should be given 6 years to create a solid mbb program. Real shame.
The problem is his contract of 600k for the next three years. The average fans wanted him gone last year. It is now spreading to the core fans. UTEP is having a giant celebration of the 50th anniversary of the 1966 NCAA championship next weekend when we play Western Kentucky. The game will be close to a sellout and if the team looks like they have the past few games the pressure to fire Floyd will get extreme. I am just about done with him and the basketball program and I have been going to games for over 40 years (was a ball kid in the early 70s).

3 yrs at 600k/yr???....that should be a gimme buyout....

....would guess you're losing more with him at the helm at this point...

I'm shocked that's the number for you guys....would've expected more...
No matter how bad we are, we own UTEP. OWN THEM.

This was discussed in detail on local radio a few weeks ago. Apparently, UTEP doesn't actually have to pay out his contract in order to let him go. They simply have to give him 90 days notice that they are terminating him.

I know, it sounds crazy but that's what they said on the radio.

That said, I don't believe they will let him go. As I have said before, Floyd is who the boosters want.

if true....that explains accepting mediocrity....and we can't touch your history in hoops....

that's a shame...I've watched it happen here and it's painful.....

The boosters wanted him. He's failed and I doubt they want him any longer.
I had no idea that Floyd was ejected from last night's game. Does anyone know where I could watch the video?

Has he ever coached a game in Hattiesburg and not thrown a fit to get ejected? His daddy must have beaten him at the Green House when he was a boy.

Maybe someone in the crowd really gets under his skin or he is just uncomfortable being at home.

I'll give him one thing, he is super animated on the court. He is so emotional that he has at least one of these meltdowns a year. He needs to be careful. He's not that young anymore.
I kind of wish he'd get run every game the rest of the season. Preferably before the first TV timeout.

Tim made enough with the bulls he can afford to work for a lower number.
at least thats what he used to tell his childhood friends when he flirted about coming back here.

Trust me, that was the exception. We're the ones that are usually down 20 10 minutes into the game.

I just would like to get a feel for what it would look like with him not on the sideline.
After that loss, I listened to the local sports shows and morale is extremely low. We just can't catch a break. When we get a successful young coach, he's gone in three years. When we get an old proven one, he can't win in six years. But it's not just Floyd's fault. The truth is that we haven't won an NCAA tournament game for almost 25 years.
Funding funding funding. UTEP throws pennies at the program and expects a winning program. It's like fit complaining about the quality of his cheap seats. Haskins was one of a kind. ONE of a kind. If they want to be a perennial they need to fund it. Unfortunately the students would inevitably pay for it since they already pay for half of the athletic budget last time I checked, something UTEP students can't really afford. JMHO. So...status quo for the next decade smh.
