I hope so.

I was just thinking ... it's like we have two starting lineups worth of talent. Hopefully that gives us a slight advantage.

Yep. I've said before, our second 5 would be competitive on their own in CUSA.

I hope mtsu wears them out, but loses. An mtsu loss coupled with 2 wins by uab would put us in the driver seat. A 2 game lead with wins over both the teams in 2nd would be a fantastic spot to be in after this weekend.
By the way, on the CUSA board, some MT fans think they are the best team in the league since Giddy Potts have returned. We need to put that theory down when we go there.
There have been years in the past where we didn't play more than 7 & did a fairly good job not wearing down.

I imagine teams can minimize the impact of lack of depth with strong quality play & ball control however the shorter shot clock may have led to "easier wearing down".
Depth may be more valuable with regard to fouls than pace, particularly since they are calling games closer this year.
PD3, Kinnard, Channing Toney, Vaden. Great team with no depth. We know how that story ends.

Marshall scores boatloads of points though. I'm assuming they play fast.
I'm not worried about Marshall, at least not today. WKU is up next.
Yep. For Marshall to score near 90 most games, they have to play a fast pace. Having no depth could definitely bite them in the arse in terms or fouls and/or fatigue. That will be a distinct advantage we have over them.

I hope MTSU beats Marshall tonight and loses to WKU on Saturday. I hope we go 2-0, obviously. That would put us in a serious advantage at the top of the conference standings.

According to one of our assistant coaches, the have the 2nd or 3rd fastest pace in the country, with their average possession lasting 14 seconds.
I can't help but think that our depth will help. It has to be hard to play that many minutes, manage your fouls, play solid defense, and then see the other team sub guys in up to five at a time.

Marshall's adjusted tempo is ranked 4th. WKU is up next.

They have a valid argument. They haven't lost much when he has been in the lineup.
They haven't lost at all since he returned. Neither have we. Not sure how they can say they are the best team though until they beat us.

Mr. Potts played against Murray State and VCU, both losses for the Raiders. And he didn't play very well in either game. Marshall starts 4 guards, and they are all taller than Mr. Potts. We'll see.
Giddy Potts is 45-88 from downtown. That's 51.1%!!!!!!!

KenPom doesn't include non-D1 games in their stats, so they have Potts at 50.6%. That's 15th in the country percentage wise from behind the arc.

Team chemistry was a bigger problem than depth with that group.
Marshall destroying MTSU. They were up by 20 at one point.
