I'm listening to the Geoff Caulkins radio show in Memphis and Haase came up. Caulkins was asking Goodman about possible candidate s for Memphis if Partner is fired.

He first asked if Bruce Pearl is realistic. Goodman said absolutely. Pearl took Auburn in desperation coming off the show cause. Said if Memphis would pay for him, he would be interested.

Caulkins then said two other names he had heard is Rick Stansbury and Jarod Haase. Goodman said Stansbury was a disaster at Miss State

Goodman then praised Haase as a great coach but stated that he would not be a good fit for Memphis. He said Memphis needs someone who works in the grey area in recruiting and Haase is probably too clean for Memphis.

Goodman said Memphis need someone between Stansbury and Haase in terms of cleanness and that is just about every coach in the country.

Interview should be up as a podcast later. Don't have a link but it is 92.9 in Memphis.
We better pony up a few more million.
It sums up the state of college athletics that somebody would say "he's a good coach, but won't cheat enough for our liking"

Why would you want that? You don't think Haase is a good coach.

Have to agree with blazers on this. I like you big dee, but you never miss out on a chance to trash Haase. I've been hard on him, but I give credit when it's due.
In that scenario I would just promote Ehsan to head coach & move forward.
I hope we are taking steps to make sure Ehsan stays. We already lost Riley to Clemson.

Agreed. Ehsan is very valuable.

How did I bash him? If Pearl goes to Memphis does Haase go to Auburn?
Don't feed the troll
Who's trolling???
Hasse to Auburn is laughable. I could see Auburn hiring Mark Gottfired before Hasse would take the Auburn job.
The Auburn job versus the UAB job is a lateral at best. And for the same reasons the Memphis job is a much better situation than the Auburn job.
If Haase can win 23-25 consistently here for a few years, I suspect he has two former stops that would gladly look at him. UAB is a better place to build that base than at a second tier, tough to win Power 5 school
The line for the NC job in s a long one waiting for Roy to retire. I suspect Haase is at the end of it.

Roy Williams left Kansas for NC. Their next coach won't come from UAB.
How's it lateral when

You're not in a one bid conference
New arena
Top five league
Re energized fanbase
Money

Doesn't matter, Auburn isn't gonna get one. ESPN bought the bids for the SEC. Nobody said anything about Auburn getting one.

A new arena, and they have got to bribe students to come. Alumni don't show up unless it's a weekend and a big name and good weather, and some bought basketball tickets with their football package. ;-P

---
Top five FOOTBALL league. The SEC is 13-45 versus the TOP 50 in the RPI. I started to jam the numbers and see where they had beat up themselves, but 13-45 was bad enough.

Debatable - 16 months into the Pearl regime. When he goes job shopping in March, let's see what happens then. If he is smart, he will get a new school to coach the 2nd weekend of April. Between the A-day game and the Masters, Pearl to Memphis might not even make the paper at all.

---
The only thing they've got we don't. And they cheated for 50 years to get that.

sounds somewhat familiar.
