Kind of a 'must win' home game.

As Crumb noted, our 'worst' game on the schedule is @Akron. We crossed that bridge although lost a tough one.

There is also something to be said for having played @CMU and @NIU already.
Bounce back game. I don't care what Murphy and his staff does as long as they devise plays for their best player. I want to win or lose dictating the action with my best player.

Don't you think the two Akron bigs had something to say about it?

Pat F and "Big Dog" are a couple big dudes. Forsythe is a little taller than JT4 and each weigh more than JT4 (JT4 was giving away 75 lbs to 'Big Dog'.) Unless I'm missing something, they are the best post combo in the conference.

Dambrot had a strategy: JT4 will not beat us. The EMU guards will have to...

One of the oldest strategies in basketball: Double team the post and make the outside shooters beat you.

Inside JT4 is good for 67% shooting so make EMU try to beat you with 17 footers...
Should be a nice bounce back game for JT. Ball State's front court isn't very tall...they got some "big" guys in Calhoun, House, and freshman Moses, but we won't going against the Akron front line in this one.

Ball is yet another team with a couple guys that can kill you from deep. Ryan Weber is lighting it up, and Francis Kiapway has improved from last season. If our offense plays like it has, we should be fine. Teams can't keep shooting this well against us. It's just not sustainable, especially at the college level.

Funny that you think teams can't keep making high percentage open looks at the D1 level. At some point, maybe you have to match up on a shooter to throw him off rhythm. Oops- that would mean coming out of the zone and making an adjustment.

Go EMU!

You're right, no one ever lights up a man to man defense.
I borrowed this post from the main board:

Pomeroy Power Rankings thru 1/20
92 Akron
134 Toledo
135 Eastern Michigan
143 Buffalo
144 Northern Illinois
146 Kent State
161 Ohio
170 Ball State
178 Central Michigan
181 Bowling Green
206 Western Michigan
252 Miami
and I borrowed these RPIs.

Two of our losses have been to good teams (NIU, Akron) on the road.

Saturday is 'close' to a must win home game... We have another tough road game, Kent, Tuesday.

**************

RPI update

11 MAC

82 Akron
91 Kent St
94 NIU
112 EMU
115 Ohio
126 Buffalo
129 Toledo

188 Ball St
194 CMU
198 BGSU
207 WMU
244 Miami
Did they change the game time to 11:30? I swore it was noon when I checked yesterday.

Game time was changed to allow enough time between the men's game and the televised women's game.
This is a must win. BSU probably on the road very early which should give us an advantage. However, BSU is slightly overacheing on their record and EMU is underachieving overall so far.

My Prediction:

EMU 77
BSU 70

Go EMU!
A little O/T, but KWard made his NBA D-League debut...

EMU 6 1/2 point favorite today.

EMU and the points... I think the Akron game opened up people's eyes in that theoretically, you can take Thompson out of the game. JT may have taken things a little bit for granted and he may have a huge chip on his shoulder today. Watch out Ball State, Thompson bounces back with a 24 and 15 performance and Eastern rolls.

Murphy, keep your eye on Mangum, don't let him get too shot happy. If he is cold, yank him. JT and Lee need to run this team.

Agree x 1000 Bob!

Lee and Thompson should touch the ball every possession.
Looks like the early tip is not helping attendance. More and more filling in but not as large as some previous games.
GB3 in the house!
Too many silly turnovers. Down 4 at the U12 timeout.
Dear Friends,
29-27 Eastern with three minutes to go in first half.
Dear Friends,
Ball State leads at half, 37-36. Alvano is not playing very well. Probably allowed Ball State to take the lead at half-time.
