Both have been pretty solid all along, but last night they both started hitting perimeter shots. Mo's performance in areas other than scoring has been a pleasant surprise to me. He's playing good inside defense, taking charges, rebounding, causing shots to be altered. And you then throw his ability to score into the mix, and he could be a force by the end of the season. Getting better every game is the goal of every team, and hopefully we will continue to improve. These two young men are obviously doing it.
Slowly Mo's 3PT% has crept up, as we knew it would. It is up to 34% now, which is not great, but definitely good enough to make the opposition watch him.
Mareik is shooting 42% from the 3 point line during conference play. Which ranks him in the top 10 in the conference. On pace to lead the conference in 3 point shooting again. He needs more shots!!!! Love when he is counted out like he has no value.
I don't recall anyone ever counting him out. Some have questioned whether or not he's an NBA prospect, and that's a legitimate question, but since I'm not an NBA scout, I have no idea if he is or isn't. I know he's a valuable asset to our team and continues to improve in all aspects of the game. I only want the best for Mo, as I do for all of our young people representing the Trojans. And he's hit some big three point shots for us this season. Maybe he'll have a lot more chances as we go further into the season.
