It's possible after Tuesday's games as many as 7 teams could be tied for 2nd place at 3-2.

Crazy.. As mentioned in the last thread.. This league is wide open. I hope the MAC has their tiebreaker scenarios down because I am sure they will be coming into play this year.
as a conference the MAC is #12 in RPI and is in range of #10-

#09) 0.5240 Colonial +107
#10) 0.5169 Summit +36
#11) 0.5144 Mtn West +11
#12) 0.5133 MAC
#13) 0.5028 MVC -105
#14) 0.4999 Big West -134
Toledo at NIU is on CBS Sports Net

I also believe that the EMU / Akron game will be webcast by the Akron folks.

Not an ESPN3 game, but still available to watch.
Half time in late game-
41 CMU
34 NIU

Final for other games-
64 WMU
82 Ohio

88 WMU
92 Akron

76 Kent St
68 Ball St

77 Buffalo
60 Miami

81 Toledo
74 BGSU

All I can say, is the webcast is the old school stuff with blacked out free throws, replays over live action. No scores visible on the webcast. Bad camera angles.

Next year ESPN3. I think. I hope.
NIU gets to keep all their players and gets back to their winning ways. Huskies now 4-1 in MAC play.

Final: 75-70 NIU

CMU only shoots 3s. That's all they do.
NIU comes back to prevent a 7 way tie for 2nd place, still a 5 way tie is pretty cool-

4-1 Kent St
4-1 NIU

3-2 Akron
3-2 Ball St
3-2 BGSU
3-2 Buffalo
3-2 Toledo

2-3 CMU
2-3 EMU
2-3 Ohio

1-4 WMU

0-5 Miami

check out what happens if Kent St, NIU, EMU, WMU and Miami win this weekend-

5-1 Kent St
5-1 NIU

3-3 Akron
3-3 Ball St
3-3 BGSU
3-3 Buffalo
3-3 CMU/Ohio winner
3-3 EMU
3-3 Toledo

2-4 CMU/Ohio loser
2-4 WMU

1-5 Miami

That's a 7 way tie for 2nd place with a .500 record. Let's all meet in the middle!
I hope John Cooper's resume is updated.

It was really crazy.. Watching the game tonight, I thought Miami played really well in the first half and was surprised that they haven't been better this year...Than I watched the second half.

Chief Ruinhoop (former AD Brad Bates) strikes again. And to think he had all but hired Whitford...

Whitford didn't want the job. He wanted Ball State.

IIRC, he turned down Miami before he interviewed at Ball St. , which came a while later. Then he wanted Ball St.
Bates handled the Charlie Coles retirement and replacement situation badly, it wasn't until early April that things were sorted out and we were definitively looking for a replacement outside of Miami. That, along with Bates being very unclear about whether or not he actually offered the job to Whitford, showed him how bad he was, and pushed him to turn us down (probably along with how program support was in decline). We were close enough to hiring him that if we conducted a normal coaching search process, he would probably be on our bench today.
