Besides academics, what does wake bring to the table? Would the ACC ever think of replacing them, if so, for who? Not trying to hate I'm just trying to see what they really bring that maybe I'm unaware of.

I don't think any school would get kicked out of a conference unless they were in substantial violation of conference bylaws or something like that.
How many schools have ever been "kicked out" of a conference? If a school was ever arbitrarily kicked out, I would imagine the ensuing lawsuit would be enormous, given the economic damages incurred to the school being kicked out.
WF is an outstanding academic school that has been part of the ACC since its inception. Collegiate conferences - even the SEC - place high value on the academic reputation of their conference.
IMO, people should not confuse collegiate athletics. - even "big time" collegiate athletics - with something like the NFL.

They're carrying their weight this year in Men's Basketball.

You still didn't answer the question. Besides academics what do they bring? A large endowment is about all I can think of. Once again I'm not saying they should get the boot I just haven't seen them really bring much to the table. Other conferences bring in schools like Vanderbilt to boost the academic perception of the confernce. I think everyone can agree that while it's nice that Wake's academics are great the ACC isn't relying on them to carry the rest of the conference.

Sure, let's kick out WFU and replace them with Penn State! While we're at it, let's kick out BC, Pitt and Miami and replace them with Ohio State, Alabama and Texas. What do BC, Pitt and Miami bring to the conference? BC is weak in both football and basketball. Pitt is mediocre in both football and basketball and has a limited upside in both. Miami used to be strong in football. People always think Miami will get stronger in football with the right coach but that never seems to work out. Miami is doing well in basketball now but has only limited community support. For that matter, Miami's football support is pathetic. Let me make it clear that I'm being sarcastic here. The ACC's composition isn't going to change for at least 10 years. I don't think there's even a mechanism for dropping a member and there's nobody who wants to join who's worth adding. Watch a game. It's more fun than silly speculation.

Sound about right..?
