Something I haven't heard mentioned yet...how is West Virginia feeling these days?
OU is pissed..Boren is letting the world know it. The Big 12 expanding was/is supposed to help their program out. By standing pat...WVU is probably getting antsy too...and could be a future target for the ACC, SEC or B1G should they decide to take anyone else.
Y'alls thoughts?
Football wise...not happy at all...as WVU is 20-23 in Big 12 conf games in their 4 year Big 12 career.

Now in hoops, they just beat #1 Kansas and today they play #2 Oklahoma....but even any hoop success is way down the priority ladder compared to football.

That...and seeing how they use to have a lot of conf members located either up the road (at Pitt) and all over from DC to Philly to NYC to CT and NY....WVU's closest conf member is located in Ames, Iowa.

Ames, Iowa...yes...ISU...that is the closest Big 12 member to WVU...vs past members located either close by and/or near scores of WVU alumni (Northeast/Mid-Atlantic and FLA).
Memphis going to the Big!!!!!!!!!!
Well, OU President Boren has all but said that they have a standing invite to the B1G. If we do ever get into the Big 12, it might end up being a repeat of the Big East.

Boren was asked about a standing invite to the B1G, and this was his response:

"Well, I wouldn't comment on that. I don't think it would be appropriate to comment. I would say that there are no official outstanding invitations from anyone right now, but there are always, always informal conversations that we get approached (with) from time to time, and I think the strength of our program, we're always considered a Top 10 program in the country. So we're always attractive to the conferences...."

If I was Oklahoma, I leave the Big Ten alone. Nebraska was a power at one time now they're lost.
If OU has an opportunity to join the Big Ten, I would go tomorrow.

Overall tougher competition at this point but they would be fine.

Here is the latest report out of WVU: http://wvmetronews.com/2016/01/13/lyons-...eer-sales/

".....Lyons estimated he discusses expansion “probably once every couple weeks” with WVU president Gordon Gee, a member of the Big 12 expansion committee.

“It’s in the finding stages,” said Lyons, who suggested growth would hinge upon the ability of new members to help establish a network channel....."
ACC doesnt pay more than Big12 do they? And Im skeptical they would be at the top of the SEC radar. If SEC wanted them, they'd take it, anyone would UNLESS another conference that wanted them paid more. People would settle for poor travel for money.

I don't think that is a conference thing, though. Pellini was competitive in the B10. Won at least 9 games every year. Came in either 1st or 2nd in his division each year. Then they fired him. Now they look lost.

Whatever, the reason you don't hear much of them anymore. For them and Ok, I think its better to be the big fish in the little pond than the little fish in the big pond.

If rue not the best news for Houston. But Cincinnati, BYU, Memphis, UCF, USF, UConn?

Expansion for most is always about future Conf TV Networks....hence Big Ten invites for Rutgers (NYC and part of Philly) and Maryland (Baltimore/DC).

Big 12 will most likely never add a 5th team from the State of TX...as that wouldn't help them secure more $$ if/when a conf tv network was started up.

Right now the Big 12 has 60% of their conf located in Iowa, Kansas, West Virginia and Oklahoma...which won't help them secure a national tv network...hence their need to expand in large populated states/markets.
