Happened today. Anyone know the specifics? I've read things on Twitter about it but no specifics.
Wolken says the Big 12 has reached an agreement with the other conferences where they won't have to expand.
If true then the fat lady has sung.
I like the AAC...Big12 would have taken Cincy and Houston anyways...same as it ever was...
damn, thought it was going to be a good year.
Maybe the whales can focus on the Pastner buyout, now that the pipe dream is ova.
Well, at least there's another thread. Sure. Why not.

Wednesday's vote may not kill possible Big 12 expansion but sure seems as if it will slow any movement toward it.

Big 12 now allowed to have title game if it wants but commish Bob Bowlsby said it’s "too early to speculate” if league will have one

‏@jasonkersey The Big 12 needs a title game, but not one like this. The other conferences should've just forced Big 12's hand to expand.

The other Power 5 leagues get their voting power diluted in autonomy if the Big 12 adds teams.

Sounds like a conspiracy.

Collusion
Now they should expand just to confuse the hell out of everyone further.
Well that appears to be it then. Just because they don't have to expand doesn't mean that they won't I suppose but the reality is that they probably won't.

I guess we'll always be on the outside looking in.......

Well all know where this is going.

4 team playoff

4 16 team power conferences

The only mystery is which of Texas Tech, Iowa St, KState, TCU or Baylor get the shaft. OU, Texas, Okie St and Kansas will probably all get picked up. Not sure about the numbers doe
I wouldn't be surprised to see B10 stuff happen in the near future with their TV contract coming up. That would make a bunch of stuff happen downstream too obviously.
The Big 12 now has the ability to conduct a conference championship football game without expanding from 10 teams, thanks to a vote Wednesday at the NCAA convention in San Antonio.

The Division I council adopted a proposal allowing FBS conferences with less than 12 members to hold conference title games between the top two teams in its standings, so long as the conference plays a full round-robin regular-season schedule.

Big 12 commissioner Bob Bowlsby Wrote:"I appreciate that what was acted upon today takes into account our unique 10-team, full round-robin scheduling model. However, this vote does not automatically mean the Big 12 will implement a football championship game."

Big XII = POWER Boom... Obviously they have more influence over the other conferences than anyone on this board thought! Big XII expansion was a bogus dream.

We just need to continue building our football program one year at a time.
GTG!
well that didn't take long at all.

Quote:OU President David Boren said the Big 12 is disadvantaged compared to other conferences because it does not have at least 12 members, a conference network and a conference championship game in a statement to The Daily Wednesday.

"The Big 12 is disadvantaged when compared to the other conferences in three ways. We do not have at least twelve members, we do not have a conference network, and we do not have a championship game. I think that all three of these disadvantages need to be addressed at the same time. Addressing only one without addressing all three will not be adequate to improve the strength of the conference," the statement read.

Boren trying to force the B12s hand, or showing the B10/SEac they'd be receptive?
I'd love to get the check that comes along with inclusion in a P5. That being said, the Big 12 is a train wreck.

Big12 now has the freedom to take care of 2 of the 3 without expansion...not bad...
