They could have had $2 admission, and there'd still be someone on the board bitching about it.

Fancy signing day event at a winery? Who do we think we are, Illinois State?

Whoa, no way we could ever live up to the Harvard of the midwest like that.
The price is right. It will be sold out. Most of the people attending are bigger donors anyway. Aquaviva is a very nice place.
In Wisconsin or the UP, they'd say "spendy." 'Nuff said.
Bump

Maybe some big names will come out over the next two weeks but this recruiting season has seemed rather uneventful. Small class and almost all the current commits with no other FBS offers.
The way this class is looking right now, this won't be much of a party at all. Maybe things will change as we get closer, but our overall lack of recruiting in this class is starting to show. Like I always say, with our winning history, facilities, etc. we should be the number one rated recruiting class compared to every other MAC school every year across all recruiting services. It shouldn't even close at this point.

I know I'll get flack on the board for saying it, but I just have not been able to figure out our recruiting since the Orange Bowl appearance.

+1. Totally agree.

Recruiting rankings don't matter.

Recruiting does matter.

+2. Is this a sign of our coaches' lack of recruiting prowess? NIU should be an easy sell.
Coaches Kane and Mike U. are pretty good recruiters. It is late in the game, but they should have a pretty good short list from their time at Kansas and NC St.
Ah right, because we've won so many "recruiting titles" before.
Recruiting titles should be given four years after players sign. Six straight MAC West championships are the real recruiting titles.
How can it even be argued? Yes, we have been wonderfully successful over this long stretch and we owned the MAC. Nobody, not even our rivals/opponents would/could disagree. WE are the MAC.
That said, given the aforementioned, our facilities and actual "stability" at head coach (for once), our recruiting is much less than disappointing. It is actually shocking.
Yes, as we must, we will see how our recruits show up, but those rankings mean something....typically (but, not always) they mean A LOT. When a player turns down other MAC schools and perhaps a BIG 10 school, or alike, it means a great deal.
How we are showing up fairly pathetic, at this point, is a marvel. We should be a relative easier sell. Our recruits should rank up there with the best of the MAC. I'll concede that we wont have WMU type recruits (and, WHY NOT?), but Toledo, Miami O....Please.
The Hard Way is losing steam. It's been a great run. A GREAT RUN, but we clearly are not wowing the recruits. We need to. Period.
Or the hard way is going to be really, really hard. Or, rather limp (sorry).
