UNCG 5-10 (1-1)

Best win was their last game at home over 7-8 Furman by a score of 67-66 in a down to the wire match. The only other wins so far were also at home, over 5-8 Jacksonville 71-69, Greensboro College, Chowan and Belmont Abbey. Losses on the road to 5-9 Wofford 76-87, to 9-3 Elon 69-79, 8-4 High Point 72-90 and 5-9 North Carolina A&T 68-77. A close loss at NC State 52-58 may have been their best game over all. This team tends to play less well than their talent suggests they should.

6’0” Jr. Guard Diante Baldwin has become their go-to guy when they need a bucket since their best player, all SoCon Tevon Saddler, quit the week before the season started. He got the game winner against Furman.

They shoot 3’s well: 8.3 three’s on .340 shooting, led by Freshmen Francis Alonso of Malaga, Spain, who is 6th in the conference in 3 pointers made and 3 point shooting percentage (2.3 on .410) and Demetrius Troy (1.1 on .385) and R-Sr. Asad Lamot (1.1 on .350). But they allow a .387 shooting percentage from opponents with 7.3 makes.

Rebounding is weak: margin of -3.5 rebounds.

But they have an excellent +2.0 t.o. margin and grab 6.7 steals.

Let them hang around and their talent makes them dangerous at the end, as Furman discovered. Keep the pressure on and, well, they’re used to losing. Bucs need to continue to improve rebounding, front court play and consistency.

Guards:
6’0” 181 Jr. Diante Baldwin: 31.6 min., 10.7 ppg (0.5 on .250 three’s),4.9 rebounds, 4.3 ass’t, 2.3 t.o.’s, 2 stl
6’3” 185 Fr. Francis Alonso: 25.9 min., 10.7 ppg (2.3 on .410 three’s), 1.3 rebounds, 1.7 asst 1.8 t.o.
6’1” 185 R-Sr. Asad Lamot: 21.9 min., 4.1 ppg (1.2 on .350 three’s), 1.5 rebounds
6’0” 176 Jr. Clay Byrd: 24.5 min., 8.3 ppg (1.3 on .444 three’s), 2.7 rebounds. HAS ONLY PLAYED IN 6 OF 15 GAMES

I think new unis look great. I do wish we would bring back the "East Tennessee" uniforms. They looked awesome and really said who and where we are.
Agreed. I would like to see the East Tennessee jerseys a few times a year
I also agree, would love to see the East Tennessee jerseys make a comeback.
ETSU is trying to brand its sports teams as such, "ETSU", so I personally would not expect East Tennessee jerseys in regular use at this stage. My two cents.

Exactly. East Tennessee on the jerseys would be exactly the opposite of everything that they are trying to do to get everyone to call us "ETSU". They put this on their media guide and I even heard a recent streaming game where the opposing announcer said "one thing they don't want to be called is East Tennessee".
Personally, I like "East Tennessee", so people know where we are. That said, I get what they are doing. It's like "LSU" or "UCLA"; nobody says "Louisiana State" or "University of California Los Angeles".

However... "USC" and "Southern Cal" do seem to be fairly interchangeable.
They could bring back the East Tennessee uniforms for selected games just like they are doing with the Gold uniforms. I think people would start preferring them once they see them. Nothing wrong with keeping ETSU though just also use East Tennessee sometimes.

Same here. I've mentioned it before but I wish we would drop the "state" and brand ourselves as East Tennessee, like Middle Tennessee has done. I know it's not happening with all the ETSU push and that's fine but one day I'd like for us to be known as East Tennessee.
The ETSU thing is here to stay. Our media guides are clear, and we are not going back.

Similarly, we are not going back to the Dome, Pepper isn't going to make a return, and Mister is not going to be our coach.

Gotta let the past be the past. Onward and upward.
I agree. If you're going to rebrand something, you have to totally phase out the old stuff or else it gets confusing.
I don't think this decision will hinge on the messageboard popular vote this time. So, it will probably stay consistently "ETSU". :)
I do not think playing a game in gold uniforms is rebranding from our regular white unis any more than playing a game with East Tennessee is. It is just a game, not rebranding!
We are ETSU. I hope to never see us called a location on the map again.

The worst is when some announcer too indifferent/lazy to read a media guide calls us "Eastern Tennessee."
So anyway, looking forward to seeing these uni's in action.

Yes indeed there may be two schools of thought about the branding but only one school of thought about wanting the Bucs to win. Go Bucs and beat UNCG!
