What do y'all think ?
it's going to be up to WKU & USM
Yes. Every conference has a legitimate chance.

The better question is what's the probability of CUSA getting the access bowl next season. I would say the probability is low.

I don't really know what WKU's schedule is like but we would more than likely have to go undefeated...and we have LSU in Baton Rouge..so that's gonna be tough for us..not impossible but very tough. I'm just glad that it's after a couple of games into the season instead of the first game, that way atleast we might have a groove on or something.
If it's 1 of 3 particular programs in CUSA then maybe. Same with the other G5s except maybe the AAC.
I think we'll have a better chance in 2017 when Bill Clark brings his semi-pro Blazers back to C-USA. 05-stirthepot
Marshall has a real shot. Going to be much improved on offense next season. 2 p5 games, 1 at home, and Louisville and Pitt look to be very good next season as well.
Not likely, but possible.

Marshall has Louisville and Pitt
WKU has Bama and Vandy
LA Tech has Arkanas and Texas Tech
Southern Miss has Kentucky and LSU
You usually need to have the balance of an up-year + not-super-ranked-P5s + CONSISTENCY (no upsets), and only losing *1* game max (to a P5), if not going undefeated... except for G5 down years where everyone's going to have 2 losses (or 1 loss like Marshall last year when playing no P5s & playing 2 D1AA teams that weighs the same as 2 losses).

Next year is WMU's "big" expected year, probably favorites of the MAC. But part of the reason they'll be a G5 crown contender is because unlike THIS year, they don't have to play Michigan State and Ohio State -- they'll substitute that with Illinois & Northwestern... while having G5 power GA-Southern at home instead of away this time. Combine that with Toledo & NIU at home instead of away, it has the recipe for a 13-1 season (which includes Conf Champ Game win).

It's those kind of things you have to look for. If W. Kentucky were to play Michigan/Michigan State & Ohio State -- yeah, see ya -- that's going to be 2 losses. PLUS going undefeated and not slipping up the rest of the way when you're out of the talks for most of the season for it, to become a possibility at the end of the season. They could end up being the best G5 by Vegas standards, but not ranked as high for it, as a 1 loss AAC champ with a non-easy schedule will get the nod slightly above them by default.

We can't predict WHO will go, but mainly predict who the Contenders will be who have a decent shot. All that depends on how well & consistent they're going to be next year + their schedule (to avoid virtually guaranteed losses + not lacking some strength).
It's way too early to have any meaningful dialogue. If you ask the question again the end of September, we just might be able to make some reasonable projections.

Besides WKU playing Bama, I like the rest of those match ups.
We all have a chance, if someone can go undefeated and a couple conference teams can pick up quality OOC wins to build conference quality.

Houston will be the favorite to repeat, Boise will be in the mix as will SDSU, WMU and Possibly NIU.

About a 95% chance Bama has to be their only loss in order to get to the G5 Bowl.
Yeah, we have a real chance just like any of the other conferences.

If Houston knocks Oklahoma off and then goes undefeated, I can't see how they wouldn't be in the playoffs, though.

I think these teams have the best shot by far. MU against an incredibly tough looking L'ville and Pitt will be lucky to split w/ the losses on D imho. Hope I'm wrong, but looks like USM/WKU have the best shot(s?) at the miracle season it'll take to get the slot. Really love USM's coach. The man has no fear of anything apparently and his players follow. Also really, really like WKU's coach, but it's up in the air if he's that great or if he just had a great QB that made everything work. This season will tell the tale, but I think Brohm's outstanding as well.

We didn't play 2 FCS schools. What the f are you smoking? Unless you were counting any one of the four MAC teams we beat as FCS.

We played Miami, Akron, Ohio, and an FCS, then dismantled your league champion, NIU, in a bowl.

Likewise, we have Pitt and Louisville (good but not elite) and have WKU and MT at home. Both Pitt and Louisville could be ranked and beatable. Nice combination for us.

USM could drop only LSU and still get in. WKU could lose to only 'bama and still get in. And LaTech could maybe still get in if Arky is their only loss and they actually deliver on being good next year. Marshall probably has to beat both our P5 teams to have shot unless one turns out to be top 10 as our victory or our loss.
