Just in case folks decide to divert their attention from EMU hoops to say football and the big games today and tomorrow... 03-cloud9

It seems there are a lot of 'giant killers' this year (Felder is getting national acclaim) and N. Florida's Trent Mackey is getting his acclaim:

"And Mackey, who’s shooting a whopping 52.4 percent from downtown, has hit as many treys as 17 entire D-1 rosters. "

So without looking further, maybe N. Florida and UDM will be very similar opponents: three ball shooting teams... (EDIT: YES!! 199 made three point shots).

Looking at the numbers in some detail, he has made 63 FGs, but 56 have been behind the arc. Designated bomber? Make 1/2 2-point FG per game.

I looked a little further. N. Fl has made 199 3 point shoots. EMU 57. (Yes, I guess that means that all of the frustration in these threads on 3-point shooting is very true. Mackey has approximately as many made 3s as EMU).

Beau Beach is a 6' 8" bomber too...

Looks like our wing players better play some defense or else the threes will be falling Saturday at the Convo.

Bonus thought: Does an Osprey look a lot like an EMU? Too bad we can't have an osprey and EMU from a zoo at the game... Lol.

Bonus thought2: Maybe after the game Trent Mackey goes to the St. Joes for a blood sample to see if his DNA matches Brad Soucie. Why? Both could bomb the trey but I doubt either could jump over a telephone directory... Lol.
I'm looking at Beau Beach's stats (and the obvious question: But who have they played?):

Illinois, L'ville, St. Louis, LSU, Dayton, Arkansas and VCU. A schedule which might cause one of our posters to wet his pants with joy. Lol.

P.S. That's a brutal schedule.

the key is to avoid the single shot gun and run be patient pass the ball and work it inside and take to the hoop drawing the foul or breaking the d we are not a good outside shooting team need to work the higher percentage shot

Yeah exactly I've really noticed this team is shooting way too many 3's. They need to take it to the hoop you're absolutely right

Agree. Too many long 3's with 20+ seconds still on the shot clock.

Today's game should be 'contrasting styles':

Three ball vs. dunks, runouts, etc.

I looked at some stats and EMU steals the ball 2x N. Florida.

I take this to mean that there is a lot of cheating going on at the top of our zone, jumping the passing lanes, resulting in steals and sometimes even d*nks.

OTOH, that could mean a lot of open threes for N. Fl.

Look for a lot of steals and dunks by EMU and a lot of open treys but N. Fl.

I can't find a line for today's game but according to the Sagarins, I'd say EMU by 5 sounds right.
My site doesn't have odds for the game ether looks like a toss up to me. I've watched the drunk in practice before the games they make less than 50%.

Drunks usually shoot less well than sober although I can't find the research online. 03-lmfao

One hour to game time. Expect a late arriving crowd. Always.
Doing a ot more layups, short jumpers and 3s during the pre game today. Has someone been sharing my posts?
Just saw video of coach Mike Brown drilling a 3 while sitting down on the bench. Wow, that was baller. I wonder if that's part of his recruiting pitch?
Anything on Raven Lee? I'm assuming no news is good news, regarding his finger.

I'm thinking that No. Florida is much like UDM. Essentially one big man + four perimeter shooters.

Mackey and Beach will be the bombers... from behind the arc. Maybe from the bench? Lol.

I think it is a mis-information campaign on our part... 03-idea
Yeah, North Florida can shoot. Thankfully we're really asserting ourselves offensively.
Love how we are passing the ball around being patient with the shot and working the ball inside or taking it down the alley.
