He mentioned the desire for football at Little Rock, citing it has many advantages for a university in terms of pride, etc. I might not be stating exactly what he said, but it's obvious from his statements, and from what I've heard of others who have some contacts at the University, that Chasse would love to have a football program at some time in the future, finances allowing.01-lauramac2
Here's hoping finances never allow it.

I still can't see it, but with the hogs gone from LR who knows. They are not "really" playing Alcorn State in LR next year? Have they ever played a SWAC team before? Are they actually charging admission or will a can of food get you in?
Playing a SWAC team in LR should definitely be a clue to LR hog fans of what they think about playing here. If were a fan, that would certainly be an insult to me.
War Memorial is a bulldog-by-the-ears situation for Fayetteville. They need to let go, but they don't dare.

Great analogy Pappy.

Playing a SWAC team in LR is obviously a major slap in the face. They could, at least, play UAPB which would create a little interest and assure a sellout. UAPB fans would surely buy every ticket hog fans don't.

Since when did Fayetteville mind insulting any other in-state school?

Here's hoping they do. It's ok to have a football team, guys. It really is. It would also give us a LOT more local attention, which is what we want, right?

With the hogs moving out of LR completely, maybe it would have a chance to work. I used to firmly believe it was a ridiculous idea to even consider having a football team at UALR. Now I am more ambivalent. We do have a stadium down the road. It's obviously not up to SEC standards, but with some renovations would be a more than adequate Sun Belt facility. They could replace the 40K bleachers on the sidelines with 20K chairbacks and leave some bleachers in the endzones for students. Maybe it could succeed, but I still have serious doubts.
If the basketball team builds up to a winning program, it might make football more viable. The Little Rock Brand will then transfer to football.
