Well the National Inquirer can report factual information, how about that, and we thought Florida would beat us. See, stranger things do happen!

Now, about the fat man. He is a loser and he is an idiot, now he is a pill poppin' junkie, like millions of other Americans, he's whacked out on prescription drugs! Whoo-hoo!

Look, the only reason I'm gloating is because for 8 to 10 years, I've told the Limbaugh lovers, aka the Dittoheads, that Rush is out in left field (or right field), that his rhetoric has no truth to it whatsoever. I've also preached and preached to my dittohead friends that Limbaugh's research skills are sloppy and nonexistent. I have also been very outspoken on the fact that Rush is an idiot. Now my vitriol has come true, Rush does say idiotic things because he's been bonked out of his mind on Oxycontin (ask Lynne, resident UM pharmacist).

The thing that is so funny about it all, is that Rush has repeatedly lambasted drug users and drug pushers. Now we find out that he is one too. How about those apples!?

Now Rush did come out on his own show claiming he is an addict, but that is not the end of the story. He did that simply because it will help him out with prosecutors once the indictments are handed down. Not only has Rush violated his own rhetoric, not only is he a hypocrite on the drug use thing, but he will be a hypocrite when he and his lawyers seek out a plea bargain! Whoo-hoo, I love it, and I bet my GOP friends will no longer quote him as some kind of authority!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Now don't fret over Rush, he's rich. He makes upward of $250 million a year, he can afford all of this. And, he's white, he won't do any jail time. And I betcha he even gets to keep his radio show. Is America a great country or what!?

03-lol :D 04-cheers

Now, about football, Go Rebs, I think we'll struggle vs. Arkie St., I'll be in the Grove tomorrow. Look for me y'all! I'll be wearing Khakis, nicely pressed and a black/plaid Patagonia shirt with a giant Press credential around my neck.
By beer thirty, I'll be enjoying cold brew upstairs at City Grocery and after that, no telling what's going to happen!
Well, he may have saved his career by coming forward with this today. Premier won't drop him because he brings in big chunk of their revenue. He ought to do his show from rehab and talk about how rough it is going through it and maybe teach a valuable message, but he won't think of it.

WR
just out of curiousity, was he out buying these on the streets or just overdoing the prescriptions he was given??
Rx, he was importing them from the third world, that is why he's about to be under indictment in Florida. Not only was he abusing the drugs, but allegedly, he was selling them.

Wiz, you think he'll have a career? You think people will continue to listen to him?

He's said in the past that he loathes drug dealers, addicts and he's said they should have the book thrown at them. I think Rush deserves the book thrown at him, for abusing and acquiring these drugs illegally. He's also done two stints at rehab already and he's still using them.

He came out on radio today to help his defense, acc. to ABC news tonight (they had some legal defense expert on there).

Whether he continues to rake the muck or not, I think he's lost any credibility he's had. Savage tried to say good things about him today, but he also tried to change the subject. When you lose credibility with fellow conservatives, look out, someone really stinks!

Personally, I think the die hards will stick with him. Me, I don't listen to him much anymore just because I really don't have the time during the day. He will lose quite a few people, but he will keep quite a bit as well since he came on the air, admitted he had a problem, and that he was going to fix the problem.

Now Premier hasn't commented as of yet to my knowledge. Clear Channel will back up their people provided they don't get too much bad press or suffer huge losses in revenue. Former Clear Channel Radio CEO Randy Micheals backed up Bubba The Love Sponge when he castrated a pig live on the air. Why? Because a Clear Channel station was getting nationwide publicity.

I think we'll have to see how things pan out after his stint in rehab. If his ratings start to drop dramatically across the board, they'll buy out his contract...and Clear Channel can afford it.

WR
I heard on CNN or fox one that he was getting them legally....well as legally as you can when you're being given more than you should be given........
Rush was buying about 30 oxycontins a day. He even got his housekeeper to go down to seedy parts of town to buy them for him.

Rush has said in the past, "drug users are criminals, they are not addicts, they don't have a disease. To say they have a disease is to make victims out of criminals. These people are criminals with weak minds and they should be sent away. They should be punished."

Likewise, for once I actually agree with Rush, he should be sent away. He should be punished. He should do 10 years in a tough arse, mostly black prison! But he won't because he's a rich white guy.

WR, respectfully, I think the above quote, in conjunction with Rush's actions makes him lose any credibility he might have had. He's been to rehab twice already. He won't ever get off of that stuff.
Good article by Newsweek on MSN.Com.
With the housekeeper with unknown reasons for turning him in,may explain the inquirer angle. The inquirer does pay for stories that they don't totally fabricate themselves.
Anyway, Rush ought to fry, just like O.J. and Jesse and Sharton, etc.etc.etc.....
Good job, Mr. President! Don't give an inch to this pill-poppin' fathead. He's the biggest idiot on the face of the earth and his recent troubles exemplify that!

Most of the GOP, however, is saying that you can't criticize the man, criticize what he says. Savage said, "we're all human. We all have our faults and so does Rush. What we have to remember is the man behind the words may not be perfect, but the ideas are...."
I have a little problem with Savage saying this because he's repeatedly called Clinton a sexpot and everyone knows a sexpot can't govern the country.

Now, I agree, Clinton was a sexpot, but the GOP rarely found fault with his policies, they always found fault with his character. Likewise, the GOP and their radio hatchet men are slandering Democrats and Independents from here to Timbuktu. It is not that I am taking the Democrats' side, it's just that I wish the GOP, the Dems and any politician would be consistent in their message, consistent in their ideology.

Oh I certainly agree Dio. The only thing I'm saying is that if enough listeners stick with him, and if Clear Channel still sees that there is money to be made off of him, he will remain on the air...whether he has any credibility or not. Those of us who are former Clear Channel employees call it the Clear Channel Evil Empire.

WR
Well, Rx, since you are a pharmacist, maybe you can tell me how a person who is doing that much pain killer can function. What is the effect of Oxycontin (sp) on a person's ability to reason and so forth? It must make a person feel pretty good, like morphine, I guess.

As for Limbaugh, the Republican Party has taken a huge hit with this revelation. While he pretended to be independent of the Party line, I always found him to be very supportive of it. It was very distressing for true conservatives like myself. The Republican Party is no more conservative in principle than the Bolshevik/Demoncrats, once you realize that both parties are interested only in power and have absolutely no desire to return government to constitutional principles.

I feel sorry for Limbaugh, but if he was buying drugs like this, he has to pay the price, just like every other poor schmoe with a jones.

On the other hand, we could decriminalize mere possession of controlled substances.........
One thing ought to be thought about long and hard, and that is that these revelations just didn't happen. Just like those against Arnold and even Clinton for that matter didn't just come up, and look how they were exploited. People who have gained a political following are being followed by bottom dwelling operatives who patiently go through their trash, their household help, every thing they can to find something. Eventually they will too, because nobody lives a life without embarrassing and occasionally distinctly criminal events. What we are seeing is Hillary!'s politics of destruction, a grand left wing conspiracy in this case. It is my hope that what is being done will prove to be the undoing of the Republicans and the Socialists. A pox on them both. The vote for Arnold Schwarzenegger, just like the one for Jessie Ventura, was a poke in the eye by the electorate in those States to the institutionalist parties. I am all in favor of it myself.
I don't understand you here. Arnold is a GOP dude. That is why he had such a war chest to run for gov. He also didn't really say anything in the election process but candidates rarely do even in a longer election season, hell, just look at our governor's race. A commercial comes on every 10 minutes and the commercials don't say anything.

I think there's still the right wing conspiracy going on, but since the right wingers are more mainstream now, it has ceased to be a conspiracy. That is one thing the GOP think-tanks have been very successful at and that is duping the public into thinking the GOP really cares about the public. They've also duped us into thinking that the GOP agenda of corporate wellfare will help all Americans. They've duped us into thinking the rich do pay most of the taxes. But how can that be, there are more Americans, about 70% of the population, that pay most of the taxes. The wealthy in this country are only about 10-15% of the population. No wonder why they should pay more on an individual basis. You may think that is unfair, but are you rich? For someone who makes about $5 to $10 million a year in income, why the hell do they need all of that money? What the hell can you do with $10 million that you can't do with$5?

As the political cycle goes, the GOP will be in control for a while. I see GW getting re-elected. Then there'll be another war, then we'll have a race with some GOP hotshot for prez, someone like Santorum. The Congress will remain GOP in 2008 but after that I think we'll go back to the Dems in the White House.

This state, however, will always remain GOP at the highest level, gov and lt. gov, but the Legislature controls the office of the gov. so it really doesn't matter.
KD1, it sounds as if you've been duped by the dems. propaganda.
You, I, and everyone else have skeletons in the closet. You're remark concerning A.S. being GOP with a huge warchest is rather funny. He's filthy rich and he used a lot of his money and influence in getting himself elected as well as helping get his uncle re-elected, you know the wifes uncle Teddy.
Now we could slam Teddy by saying he was or is a slime bag because of his ditching his car in the canal and forgetting till the next morning his girlfriend was still in the car. We could also slam Clinton not because he was addicted to sex as if it were a drug, but because of all his executive orders that bypass both houses of congress. Round and round she goes, where she stops, nobody knows.
Enough politics, you want to slam someboby? slam AL., that's who we play next! Oh, by the way, when you do think and talk about politics, you have to go back further than most 20 something year olds memories will take them. The donkeys and pachyderms will lie, cheat, steal and do virtually anything else it takes to obtain power. No, I'm not a greenie or commie, just sick of the lies!
Let's play balllll...... :stupid:

Sure,he ran as a GOPer, but Conan is hardly GOPer or Bolshevik material. The real GOPers in the race, Issa and McClintoch, were rejected by the voters, just as the Bolshevik candidates were. The point is that Conan is not a party hack, not a professional politcker. This makes him like The Body.

How a person can take that much pain killer and not be dead of respiratory depression is beyond me. I have to wonder if he was selling/sharing his stash (if in fact the quantities quoted in the press are correct).

Oxycontin is a controlled release oxycodone product. Oxycodone is a codeine derivative and of the same class as morphine and the like (opoid agonist for those that know the lingo). It is a schedule II narcotic (one which must be locked in a safe in pharmacies that only the pharmacist is allowed to have access to). It is supposedly for use in opoid tolerant patients only. This means that you would have had to take some sort of opoid previously (usually, at least in legal practice, this means percocet of some sort). It is well known that fatal respiratory depression can quickly occur if someone hasn't had previous exposure to an opoid.

The effects of Oxycontin include pain relief, euphoria, feelings of relaxation, respiratory depression, constipation, and cough suppresion. The people who abuse this medication either just take it when they are not supposed to and swallow it whole. There have also been people who crush the tablets and snort it or drink it or whatever. Note: this disrupts the time release mechanism of the drug which causes a HUGE dose of the medication at once. Several people have died from taking the medication in this manner.

It is also interesting to note that people who are truly on such strong pain relievers because of chronic pain conditions VERY rarely become addicted to these medications. Study after study has proven this, and imo, it is a very interesting point.

Sorry if I went over and beyond what you wanted to know or if it seems to be confusing. Get me talking about drugs, and I could go all day. 03-wink

Rx
I know of a couple of people that take it daily, and they don't seem any different than any of us. They live normal lives, don't act strange or "doped" up. I think those that take it and abuse it have it in their head's that they have to have it to function and live, personally. Been around way too much prescription drug abuse around Oxford in my line of work. It is rampant around here!
rebels, I know people who have to take it to be anywhere near normal function due to their severe pain. But I have also ran into people who act like they've been smoking weed straight for weeks.
Thanks, Rx, that was very informative.
I work with a fellow Rebel fan who has to take it to even function. He is one of our part-timers, and he has an arthritic condition that puts him in unbearable pain. He has one of those zip-up cooler style lunchboxes with nothing but pill bottles. He must have thirty or more prescriptions. It's nothing to be talking football with him and have him fall asleep in mid-sentence.
