Well no peep out of DeKalb today.

SF still assessing or no changes a-brew'n?
Given the timing/holidays I am going with SF (and hopefully Carey) still assessing.
Before SF makes that call, he needs legal counsel. That takes time and money.
I have 3 people tell me there seems to be a lot of smoke around the athletic department

Ah the old where there is smoke there is fire applying? Honestly, after that performance I am not sure how the football coaching staff would not be expecting some heat at a minimum.

A bonfire in the offices.

Sean Frazier burning Carey and Cole's playbook?

1. SF is extremely upset up the bowl showing and not happy with the answers he is getting from staff
2. Carey resisting staff changes
3. Also SF may have multiple options including (ILL and WISC)
If you put yourself in SF's shoes it's a pickle...

You are certainly in line for a bigger job, bigger payday. You've done a lot of great things.

You are probably stewing over that bowl loss and what to do with a stubborn head coach.

You probably want to make a statement, but the play may be to just try and keep the thing status quo.

Why end up in an HR mess at your current job when there are higher paying options evolving in front of you.

Yea if the Master Plan has stalled, attendance has not been great, and the football run is stalling because of Carey and his unwillingness to make changes.... this may be Frazier's window to jump ship before things get worse.

SF leaving & the coaching staff remaining, would be a more severe double kick in the nutz than the 2010 MACC loss/JK saying buh-bye.
If I was SF I would be leery of the Wisc AD job considering how much they love Barry alverez and how he never stays retires.

Also would be worried about the ILL job because no Chancellor.

Lots of $$$ to offset those worries. Unfortunately, he would be a good fit for Illinois and he knows all of the administration at Wisconsin.
I don't think they will make any decision until the new year. Coach Carey is as stubborn as Coach Thibodeau was for the bulls.
If no changes are made, I would expect the same (or similar) results as this year.

Or as stubborn as Joe Novak.

If he can't see after his last two bowl performances that something needs to change then he is blind.

A trip to the MACC and a bowl game?

I'd roll the dice on that again with a healthier NIU squad and a much easier OOC schedule next year

Pretty sure Alvarez said he's done once his contract expires in '17 or '18. I wouldn't be surprised to see SF stay until that job opens. He'd get the Barry recommendation
