is to win big and win consistently. And that's difficult to do, since obviously we haven't done it in years. Coach Beard has us off to a great start, but it can't end here, now, or the rest of the season or next season, or the season after that. People will support a winner. But it can't be a fluke.

We need to bring players in who can win championships in our league.
That puts us in the post season tournaments, and then when we eventually start beating name teams, then our program will be on solid footing. Until then, we'll have to live with "poor little us". Hopefully that won't be long.04-cheers
That's where the "why not us?" question is so powerful. It questions the assumption that we can't or aren't supposed to be any different than in the past. Answering that obviously rhetorical query every day forces us to let go of excuses that hold us back.
Coaches have to recruit really good players, and coach them up. I believe our current staff is capable of doing that.
If Wimp had a "why not us" orientation, his recruiting would have been better and we would have accomplished more in his tenure.
Wimp's problem was he didn't really want to be here. He was still living in the past, in his Alabama days, and this was a come down for him. He was a really good coach, but I don't think his heart was ever really in it here.
The way you keep it going is to hire good coaches each time, like Arkansas State has done in football the past four hires. I think we're got a "keeper" now, but we all know we won't be able to keep him long if he continues to win. But the answer to that, is go out and hire the best one you can find to replace him.
