The AAC is 0-4 in Bowl Games and I am loving every minute of it.

After listening to guys talk from their message board all year long, you would have thought that conference was God's gift to college football.

It is funny, now that they are 0-4, they are talking about how mismatched the bowl line ups have been against them. This is after talking all season about how the top teams in the other G5 conferences would have no chance in the AAC. It is funny how they have now started to make excuses.

I will be rooting for the AAC in their games against P5 schools, but am enjoying watching them lose to other G5 schools in their Bowl Games.
I can't imagine why anyone here would give a **** about them one way or another, win or lose. Just another lower tier conference. If your alma mater is not in it, they're irrelevant.
There is so much hate (and envy) of the AAC over on the C-USA board, doesn't seem much need to pile on here.......kinda like Axeme, I am ambivalent about the AAC. C-USA is now full of FBS "newbies' (which aren't doing so badly as evidenced by WKU), and programs that were left behind and secretly wish to be in AAC. So, the next best thing is to go the "hate" route!
the AAC still gets the same amount of $$$ either way...The American secured the Access Bowl and the $$$ that comes with it (4.5 million if I remember right)...plus, the AAC gets 300k for every team that meets APR...that's the potential for another 3.6 million.

I simply want Memphis to beat Auburn...and all the checks to clear ;-)

Go Tulsa later tonight!

Not to defend the AAc but consider what happened to the MAC when our Champion took a BCS slot... Everyone gets bumped up a rung.

UConn (6-6) just stayed within a score of Marshall (9-3) until the final minutes of the game.

12-2 WKU had a hard time putting 8-4 USF away

Temple / Toledo is the one that hurts them. Temple, a ranked division champ, was beaten by MAC team #3 or so.
..

CUSA's Bowls have lined up well for them. And they should end up with the best winning % among the G5.
Do you think that sometime in the near future that the "G5" conference champs, not in the access bowl, could play each other in bowl games. MWC vs Sunbelt and MAC vs CUSA or would you rather play a mediocre "P5" school? Opinions?
No. Don't see it ever happening. Nobody wants to play G5 teams. Everyone--P5 & G5--wants to play P5 teams.

Bowl games between G5 teams are seen as minor league.
I don't actively root against the AAC, and in reality it has a small effect on the grand scheme of things outside of fan boards like this. I will admit that it's kinda funny seeing their fans backtrack a bit with the whole 'Vegas is wrong' schtick.

Edit: Man, it feels weird having 3,000 posts now. There's 1 month, 2 weeks, 3 days, 5 hours, 35 minutes, 21 and seconds that I'll never get back. 03-wink

Um, because it's fun to root against the AAC and their arrogant fans. Just because "they're irrelevant" to you, doesn't mean they're irrelevant to everyone else.
Usually refer to winless teams as 0-Lions....couple more games go how I want them and I may change that to 0-AAC

VA Tech has 45 on Tulsa in the first half :)

It's called expressing an opinion. I do recognize that there are many, many things, from the AAC and Real Housewives and Taylor Swift and test match cricket that mean absolutely nothing to me that other people are fascinated by. You can obsess about any of them you want or not.

Watching test match cricket featuring an AAC team against one made up of Taylor Swift and a bunch of housewives has a certain bizarre appeal to me. Swift is pretty tall-I see her as a bowler.

Yep, make that 0-5.

I was about to say that Taylor Swift is tad bit on the slender side to stand up to the rigors of being a fast bowler in Test Cricket ... but then realized that if the AAC defended the wicket as well as they've been defending the goal line in bowl season, the games wouldn't actually last very long.

Yep, make that 0-5.

The only remaining bowl game the AAC is favored in is Navy 10-2 vs. Pittsburgh 8-4. Navy is favored by only 3 points though and playing an ACC school with 8 wins in this one.

AAC is staring at 1-7 or 0-8 potentially.
Lots of AAC fans seem to think their conference is way better than all the other G5 conferences. Which is not true. So I'm happy to see them lose a bunch of games in bowl season.

we're just proud of our upstart conference...

year 1: UConn wins the men's/women's NCAA title...UCF wins the Fiesta Bowl

year 2: AAC gets 4 P5 bowl match-ups, plus BYU in Miami...

year 3: AAC gets 4 P5 bowl match-ups, Houston makes the Peach Bowl

I like our ESPN TV exposure, and being in a hoops conference that has quality teams like UConn, Cincy, Memphis, Temple, Tulsa, SMU, etc.

if you're a midget, be the tallest, best lookin' midget...
As long as you accept the AAC is still the tallest midget and not the shortest normal sized person...

I was referring to actual performance on the football field. Even if AAC was the best this year, they haven't been every year. And never by a lot, as AAC fans would have you believe.

UCF was clearly the best in 2013, they got the Fiesta Bowl (auto bid or not, at 11-1, with wins over PSU and Louisville, they were the best)

last year, we were not, but still secured 4 P5 bowl match-ups, and BYU in Miami for Memphis.

this year, Houston is the best and secured the Peach Bowl.

that's one hell of a start for a G5 conference...and I haven't even mentioned hoops.
