for those who say the Detroit media doesn't pay attention to any school not named, "Michigan" or "Michigan State":

I see articles on our women's win over Michigan, Corey Davis (WMU - WR), Toledo's bowl win, multiple article on OU, CMU's basketball win, even NIU's bowl loss, etc. (although in the case of our story, it is a UofM/EMU story, as it should be).

And Andrew continues to do an excellent job at the Eastern Echo.

Token coverage but that all those papers have always provided. I've got no problem with them as they are still a legit news source with real writers.

There's never chatter on sports talk radio though. They don't even give the scores during their updates.

The beef I have is with mlive / Ann Arbor News. They could at least publish the Echo reports if they are not going to give us a beat writer.

It is said that most people are pretty replaceable. They retire or move on and get replaced. E.g., Graham Couch was the WMU beat reporter in K'zoo. He went on to Lansing (State Journal) and has been replaced.

In the case of Michael, he hasn't been replaced yet (and its been four months) and the effects are really being felt.
