Pearl is all in again.

He’s promoting Auburn basketball with the same creativity and fervor he once did at Tennessee. He climbs atop tables and rallies the student body. He passes out Auburn gear at local restaurants. And he accepts a starring role in a dunking-booth.

But Auburn fans were excited about the hire even before Pearl lifted a promotional finger.

“The arena was about standing-room only (for Pearl’s introduction),” said longtime Auburn fan Johnny Mincey, a former president of the Auburn Tip-Off Club. “That’s never happened before.

“Auburn fans have fallen in love with him, just like they did at Tennessee.”

Sellout crowds reflect that. So does the revived and revitalized Tip-Off Club, which was discontinued last season due, in part, to a lack of interest.

A week after being hired, Pearl called club president Philip Minor and asked about restarting the club.

“In a short time, we’ve more than redoubled our membership,” Minor said. “He’s breathed new life into a basketball program that was in trouble.”

Get your head out of the sand
why are you linking an article from 11 months ago? Until there is no hope in going to a bigger conference, he's not going to be considered.
Screw Pearl, that ship is sailing away.

Speaking of TBA though, I'll be in the house to watch the Tiger's next HC take on the Vols tonight. I'll be right behind Steve Forbes' bench, close enough to propose plays and give rotation advice. Don't be surprised if the fightin' Forbes' knock off the Vols tonight.

True --- a P5 invite will solve a lot of problems. Our money (aka booster money) isn't unlimited.
Being discussed.

... and great thread title. A search just showed this was around the 17th thread with just "Bruce Pearl" as the title.

Does it matter that it is 11 months old?

The point of the post is what he does for programs. He brings excitement and turns programs that suck and have no fan support - Tennessee and Auburn and now Memphis - into winners and he gets the fanbase excited.

Let's see.....Memphis has how many fans in the seats for each game? I don't live in Memphis but turned on the TV to watch a game a few weeks ago and there was no one in the stands at the Forum.....awful.

Tiger basketball needs a shot of Bruce Pearl.
Has anyone looked at how Auburn is playing this year.....

I'm on board with Forbes as our next coach. Recruiting machine, outgoing, engaging personality that will connect with fans, good pedigree, coaches and players in this town love him....he would crawl to Memphis for this job.

5-3 this season. They were 3-5 last season through this stretch so perhaps the Pearl is doing something right.

What does a basketball coach have to do with getting in to a big boy conference? I thought basketball had no bearing on conference realignment. It's all about football, right?

Auburn has beaten all the bad teams on their schedule (UAB, Georgia Southern, Northwestern State, Coastal Carolina and Mercer) and lost to Colorado, Middle Tennessee and Xavier. They won one of their exhibition games in overtime. I guess that is OK for year 2.
