If we don't have the money to replace Josh with a big name like Archie Miller or Gregg Marshall, then I would look at Penny. He would be our Chris Mullin, his name would recruit itself, he loves the city, he loves the kids, and the best part, he would only leave for an NBA job. If this isn't possible, I would look at someone with NBA ties before I consider some mid-major coach
He also loves golf I hear.
I would welcome Penny ... I mean, he is coaching too so that is a good thing.
My god we make IQ tests mandatory before being allowed to post here. Better yet, a sobriety test
Would be nice, but wistful thinking. OTOH, Luke Walton is getting some coaching experience.

Well, maybe he has matured since I knew him back in the 90's but I doubt it. Don't think he probably has the capacity to coach on that level.

Money is not the issue with Archie or Marshall. They ain't taking this job. Period. They have turned down better situations than what we have.

I love Penny. He is not qualified to coach this team. And he wouldn't want it anyway. He loves his life as it is right now. And he's in a great role already for the university.
It's a ridiculous suggestion. But then again, so is hiring someone who's chief qualification was being the video guy at Arizona just because he's in the parking lot loading up his car.

I have we even had conversations with the current video guy at Arizona this year? I'm just saying if at first you don't succeed, try, try again.
this has been discussed ad nauseam. Penny is not interested and is happy playing golf and running his businesses/investments. He is a great friend of the program but has no interest in being a head coach.

I wish we had this for voting.
Hand-out straws to the "nattering nine". Whoever, gets the short straw gets the job with no pay for the next four years to help pay off Pastner's contact. They have to keep Pastner around as a voice of conscious for the program during that time period. Anyone of the "nattering nine" are convinced they can do as good a job as Pastner, so money and commitment should not be an issue.
He's a legend around here obviously but C'mon Man!
didn't Houston try that with Clyde Drexler? I believe it did not end well...

I don't get the logic. You want to fire a coach that we hired with zero head coaching D-1 experience, a coach that everyone has question about his abilities since day one and hire a high school coach with zero college experience?
Penny is not going to coach
Chris Mullin sucks anyway. He wears shorts on the sideline and got beat by a technology institute.

I wouldn't stand a chance if we started testing sobriety...
